Undoubtedly, CERN will be the central focus of the visit but with visits also to IT Discovery, The Science Museum and Natural History Museum, all science bases are covered.
Please note that CERN must now be booked by the group leader direct and then advise us of the date of the visit.
Other visits could also include the United Nations and Red Cross Museum.
Geneva is a compact city where the public transport network runs with Swiss efficiency and is the ideal way for groups to get around.
Other venues we can offer for Science study tours include Brussels and Berlin
On the first day, upon arrival in Geneva, your group will begin their exciting exploration with a visit to the Geneva Observatory which is an iconic site that works on astronomical research and the history of space observation. After the observatory visit, the group will transfer to their accommodation to settle in.
The second day is themed around some of the most highly regarded scientific institutions in Geneva. The morning will be spent at the world famous CERN facility, where students will embark on a guided three hour tour that provides an introduction to particle physics and the groundbreaking research that is being conducted at the Large Hadron Collider. Following the tour there will be additional time for students to explore CERN's static exhibitions. These showcase the history, experiments, and technological innovations that take place at CERN. In the afternoon if the weather allows, students will visit the ICT Discovery Museum which focuses on the evolution of communication technologies.
On the third day there may be an opportunity to visit either the Red Cross Museum or the United Nations Office at Geneva, or possibly both. The Red Cross Museum gives details of humanitarian work, while the United Nations provides information about international diplomacy and peacekeeping efforts. These visits will help your students' understanding of global cooperation and humanitarian science.
The itinerary can be flexible to accommodate varying flight times, and there is an option to extend the trip if you would like to stay for more days. If the group wishes, they could visit Bern, Switzerland's capital, which is home to Einstein's house and museum.
We can cater for as many guests as the accommodation, coach or plane can fit.
With prior knowledge, we can design itineraries that take into consideration persons with disability.
