Which Curriculum Subjects do we cater for?

Languages

Rondo Travel's Cantabria Spain Tours offer a dynamic and immersive approach to language learning, specifically designed to enhance students' Spanish language skills through cultural immersion and practical experiences in the beautiful region of Cantabria. Our method for delivering the Languages curriculum during the trip focuses on real-world application, cultural understanding, and interactive learning.

Here's an overview of how we deliver this curriculum subject during our overseas trips:
-Interactive Spanish Language Courses: The trip begins with structured Spanish language courses in Santander, conducted by experienced, native-speaking instructors. These sessions are tailored to the students' current levels of proficiency and aim to improve their conversational skills, vocabulary, and understanding of grammatical structures. The immersive nature of these lessons, set against the backdrop of Cantabria's rich cultural landscape, ensures that learning is both meaningful and engaging.

-Cultural Immersion through Local Interactions: Following the language lessons, students are encouraged to practice their Spanish in real-life situations. Visits to local markets like the Mercado de la Esperanza provide an excellent opportunity for students to engage with local vendors, practicing their language skills in a vibrant and authentic setting. This direct interaction with native speakers not only boosts conversational abilities but also enhances listening comprehension and cultural awareness.

-Exploration of Historical and Cultural Sites: The itinerary includes visits to significant cultural and historical sites in Cantabria, such as the medieval village of Santillana del Mar, the modernist architecture of El Capricho de Gaudí in Comillas, and the Cabo Mayor Lighthouse. These visits are accompanied by guided tours in Spanish, enhancing students' listening comprehension and providing context for the cultural and historical aspects of the language.

-Experience-Based Learning Activities: To reinforce language learning, the tour incorporates activities that require students to use Spanish in practical contexts. This includes a beginner's surf lesson with Spanish-speaking instructors and interactive experiences at Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabarceno. Such activities not only make learning fun but also demonstrate the utility of language skills in diverse situations.

-Reflection and Discussion Sessions: Each day concludes with reflection sessions where students can discuss their experiences, share what they've learned, and practice their language skills in a supportive environment. These discussions help solidify their learning and build confidence in their ability to communicate in Spanish.

-Tailored Itinerary to Curriculum Needs: Recognizing the diverse needs and goals of language educators, we work closely with teachers to customize the tour to align with specific curriculum objectives. Whether the focus is on improving conversational skills, enhancing grammatical understanding, or deepening cultural knowledge, we ensure that the trip supports and enriches the school's language curriculum.

-Inclusivity and Accessibility: Ensuring that all students, including those with disabilities or special educational needs (SEN), can fully participate in and benefit from the language learning experiences offered during the trip is a priority. We provide accessible accommodations, transportation, and activities, adapting them to meet the needs of all participants.

Through Rondo Travel's Cantabria Spain Tours, students are not just visitors but active participants in a living classroom where every interaction, from ordering food in a café to navigating the city streets, becomes a lesson in language and culture. Our commitment to providing a rich, immersive educational experience ensures that students return with improved Spanish language skills, a deeper appreciation of Spanish culture, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Who are Rondo Travel?

Cantabria stands out as an excellent destination for educational excursions, offering students the opportunity to enrich their Spanish language skills amidst the vibrant local market in Santander. The region boasts a plethora of awe-inspiring landscapes, including rivers, valleys, caverns, caves, cliffs, and beaches.

Nestled between Asturias and the Basque Country, Cantabria's capital city, Santander, is renowned for its picturesque El Sardinero Beach and the iconic Cabo Mayor lighthouse. The city features elegant promenades and avenues such as Pereda, Castelar, and Reina Victoria, seamlessly blending tradition with modernity. Santander's charm is further accentuated by its harmonious integration of nature into its urban spaces.

One of Cantabria's unique attractions is its underground paradise, housing 6,500 known caves. Among them, 60 caves showcase captivating examples of Palaeolithic cave art, with 10 of these exceptional caves receiving UNESCO World Heritage status. Notably, the El Soplao Cave boasts over 20 kilometers of tunnels, presenting an extraordinary subterranean experience. This region offers an amazing opportunity for school groups to practice their Spanish, witness breathtaking landscapes, and explore the fascinating underground world.

At Rondo Travel, our primary focus is comprehending your unique needs and customizing tours to align with your preferences, rather than adhering solely to the tour operator's standards. Be assured that all our tours benefit from financial protection through the ABTA & ATOL schemes. As proud founders of the school travel forum, we stand out as one of the pioneering school tour operators to be honored with the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
