Hindleap Warren Residential Visits School Trip

London Youth - Hindleap

Residential Trip Residentials London & South East

trip icon Hindleap welcomes Primary & Secondary schools from the first week of term in September through to the last week in July. A school can choose from a two night, three day residential, up to a four night, five day residential. We also offer day visits.

Hindleap regularly provides courses for all year groups from Year 2 upwards and our activities and facilitation can be tailored to work with all year groups and abilities.

A typical residential at Hindleap will start on the morning of day one at roughly 11am. The group will be welcomed to the centre, given a tour, settled in to their rooms before eating their packed lunches they have brought with them. Activities will then commence after lunch and dinner will be served in the early evening followed by an evening activity. On the day of departure, the group will participate in morning activities, be given lunch and the leave at roughly 1.30pm in the afternoon.

Hindleap also has indoor classroom space that can be used for teacher-led activities as well as a games room with a pool table, table tennis table and TV with DVD player.

We have a tuck shop on site and offer hot chocolate and home made cookies in the evening. We have a dedicated day course centre incorporating toilets, showers, changing facilities, a lecture room with an interactive white board and a private entrance.

Hindleap Warren has a range of options for Secondary Schools. We are open all year round and regularly provide three to five day residentials mid-week for all year groups. Our activities stretch and challenge students and our programmes can be facilitated to meet a schools desired outcome.

Hindleap also offers the following:

Revision weekends for GCSE & A-Level students; providing the space for teachers to facilitate curriculum learning and utilising our professional instructors to engage students in fun and exciting outdoor adventurous activities. These trips are proving hugely popular with schools booking weekends in March, April and May.

Teamwork and resilience Right and Wrong

Click to read full text Over the past eight years, children, young people, Teachers and Youth Workers have completed questionnaires so that we can evaluate the impact of our work. We have found a statistically significant increase in children and young people’s resilience, confidence and relationship skills following a residential or day visit to the centre.

This is an hour session at the end of your residential, where one instructor per group, will use a variety of reviewing techniques/games to promote reflection on their experiences, goals, emotions and skills learnt during their residential, focusing on how they can continue to use those skills outside of Hindleap.

green tick Wildlife School Trip

We offer a range of environmental sessions, each with its own style whether it be storytelling, or exploring your senses, we hope to inspire learning and a respect for nature and wildlife during your trip but also to take into everyday life.

green tick Bushcraft School Trip

Click to read full text Learn how to build a basic shelter to keep you warm and dry. Then have a go at lighting a fire using a traditional flint and steel, or a bow drill to create fire via friction. Then the challenge is keeping it going for long enough to toast marshmallows on!

Our bush craft sessions help children and young people learn practical outdoors skills, as well as how to work together in small team. Problem solving and being open to different ways of getting to a goal are crucial.

Our instructors constantly monitor children and young people when working with fire.

green tick Watersports School Trip

SUP Stand Up Paddleboarding Kayaking Canoeing

Try your hand at canoeing, stand-up paddle-boarding and kayaking, at a beautiful local reservoir. Our water sports sessions improve young people’s communication and co-operation skills, and allow them to enjoy the natural environment.

All activities start with training from our qualified team of water-sport instructors, who then make sure young people are kept safe while they’re on the water.

We use our own minibuses to take young people to and from the centre.

green tick Team Building School Trip

Click to read full text In small teams of 12 to 15, young people are introduced to a series of challenges. Each challenge is presented by the Hindleap instructor, with the rules and boundaries clearly explained.

The group must first discuss how they will approach the task, which highlights the importance of good communication and understanding differing opinions and perspectives. The group will then attempt the challenge utilising both physical and mental skills. The task will expose and develop varying team dynamics and leadership styles: who are the activists, theorists, reflectors and pragmatists within the group?

This activity is at the core of what Hindleap delivers and illustrates what good outdoor education should look like. It’s fun, engaging, rewarding and developmental.
