Join us for day trips and residentials at Hindleap Warren Outdoor Centre, East Sussex!

residentials and day trips that give students fantastic outdoor learning experiences. Set within
300 acres of private woodland in the beautiful Ashdown Forest, East Sussex, we’re only an hour
away from London!
Our dedication to outdoor education spans all seasons. While summer residentials are often
the most popular, the quieter off-peak seasons, particularly in winter, offer a variety of unique
advantages. For schools, winter trips can be more cost-effective, allowing budgets to stretch
further while still offering the same high-quality experience. Most importantly, taking a trip early
in the school year offers students an excellent opportunity to bond with their peers and
teachers!

Winter trips at Hindleap Warren bring their own magical atmosphere. The shorter days lend
themselves to activities not possible in the warmer months, like our captivating night walks.
Imagine your students walking beneath a starlit sky, spotting deer in the distance and watching
bats flutter overhead. For those visiting in winter, the experience is never limited by the weather.
In fact, the colder months open up a whole new world of possibilities! Students can engage in
activities like night orienteering, where they’ll rely on teamwork and problem-solving to navigate
the forest in the dark, adding an exciting new layer of challenge. Of course, other favourites like
high ropes, rock climbing, and even cosy campfires remain available, ensuring every student
stays engaged.
Our accommodation can host up to 164 participants. Our dormitory-style setup is divided into
six zones, offering flexibility for different group sizes. Whether your school is bringing a small
class or a large year group, we can cater to your needs. Teachers and group leaders also have
their own dedicated rooms for added comfort.
In addition to comfortable sleeping arrangements, we offer breakout rooms equipped with
games, TVs, and cozy spaces where students can unwind between activities. These communal
areas provide the perfect spot for students to relax and share stories of their day’s adventures.
Our catering team works hard to ensure every meal is nutritious and tailored to meet your
group’s dietary needs. With a varied menu that ensures there’s something for everyone, we can
accommodate most dietary requirements - just let us know in advance, and we’ll take care of
the rest.
One of Hindleap Warren’s greatest strengths is our diverse range of activities, the majority of
which run throughout the year. No matter the season, our passionate and highly trained
instructors lead engaging sessions that teach new skills, encourage teamwork, and challenge
students to push beyond their comfort zones.
For example, our climbing tower offers both indoor and outdoor options, so even if the weather
takes a turn, the learning and fun continue! Meanwhile, our survival skills sessions teach
students how to make nettle string and build shelters. Every activity at Hindleap is designed
with personal growth in mind, and our instructors work closely with each group to ensure this.
Planning a residential trip can feel like a big task, but at Hindleap, we’re here to support you
every step of the way. From your first inquiry to the moment you depart, our team will guide you
through all the details. We provide leader packs, risk assessments, and even the option for a
site visit ahead of your trip, ensuring you feel fully prepared and confident about your stay.

Our residential packages offer incredible value, especially during the off-peak winter months.
Starting at just £185 for a two-night stay, these all-inclusive packages provide everything needed
for a memorable outdoor adventure. A typical stay includes accommodation (with bed linen
provided), all meals freshly prepared by our expert kitchen team, up to seven activity sessions
led by our qualified instructors, and access to breakout rooms and other facilities. And for those
with a sweet tooth, there’s even the option of a visit to our tuck shop for a little treat!
