What activities are available during group visits?
With over 40 different activities available on site such as: Climbing/Abseiling, High Ropes/Low Ropes, Archery, Canoeing/Kayaking, Raft Building, Pioneering, Bushcraft, Orienteering, Trust Walk, Icebreakers, Mountain Biking, Shelter Building and more... we can tailor make an activity programme to achieve the aims and objectives of your group.
We also run different programmes and Awards from the centre including Forest Schools which encourages and inspires individuals through exploration and discovery and the John Muir Award to help encourage young people to appreciate the value of wild places.

Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Curriculum topics available: Climbing, Canoeing, Orienteering, Archery, Kayaking, High Ropes.
We provide opportunities for all young people to experience the world beyond the classroom. All of our sessions can be delivered in line with the National Curriculum - so your students can have fun and get engaged with outdoor learning, whether searching for mini beasts, climbing up our tower or as they zip wire across the lake! Each individual is challenged and stretched by our qualified instructors, as they work towards increasing initiative, commitment, personal responsibility and self-motivation. All of our activities are run with a personal development approach and 'Challenge by Choice' means that sessions are voluntary and individuals will not be forced to take part in any activities. Our instructors ensure that every child works within their own personal ability levels and are encouraged to challenge themselves appropriately.Curriculum topics available: SUP Stand Up Paddleboarding, Kayaking, Canoeing, Raft Building.
With access to our open lake we are able to offer watersport activities that include kayaking, SUP Paddleboarding, canoeing and raft building. These will all help build participant's confidence as well as team working.Curriculum topics available: Partially Wheelchair Accessible, Partially Wheelchair Accessible, General Learning Difficulties, Emotional and Behavioural Disorders, Social Skills, Physical and Mobility, Autistic Spectrum, Disabled Toilet Access, Fully Wheelchair Accessible, Dyslexia Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia, Visual Impairment.
We are committed to being a fully accessible centre and strive to give everyone the same opportunities to experience, learn and develop through adventure and discovery.We understand the needs are different for everyone and for this reason we have specialised staff who are passionate about inclusion to ensure we can discuss your needs and understand how we can best accommodate them.
If you have additional needs, there should be no holding you back. Our professional and friendly staff deliver high quality support in a safe, accessible environment. You can enjoy the outdoors and leave with amazing memories often having experienced something completely new.
What size groups do you cater for?
We can cater for small groups and individuals to large groups. For residentials we can accommodate up to 110 in the main house, 62 in the lodges and even more if out Camping. Activity sessions are set to a ratio so please check with our team for how many groups will be needed to participate in activities.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Yes, there is a training room and straw bale classroom available to hire plus additional facilities in the main house.
Is there first aid on site?
Yes, all of our staff are first aid trained. We also have an on call person at night available for any emergencies.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes, the centre is fully accessible allowing those with disabilities the opportunity to experience the centre, the same as everyone else. Accommodation, facilities and activity bases all have specialised equipment to assist those with additional needs.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes. We are extremely proud to say that our centre can fully cater for those that need additional support, from the activities that we run to the expertise of the staff.

We operate a bursary programme which enables young people to access outdoor learning opportunities so if you need assistance towards funding, please contact us to discuss if we are able to help you.
Who are Avon Tyrrell?
Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre, is home to the UK Youth National Charity. Located in 65 acres of private estate in the New Forest National Park, the centre provides all groups and individuals with the same opportunities to experience, learn and develop.
Offering an extensive range of on site adventure, field studies and development activities all linked to the National Curriculum, this is the perfect venue to bring your class away for a day trip or a week long residential.
Our focus is on helping you achieve your aims and objectives through our high quality sessions with experienced instructors and we provide a strong platform for Learning Outside the Classroom. We help young people with personal and group development; improving communication, increasing self-confidence and teaching them new skills and how to work as part of a team.
With over 40 activities available on site we can tailor make a package to help your group achieve their goals and you will speak to one of our experienced Guest services Team to make sure we give you what you need.

2-night package: Monday 21st - Wednesday 23rd October

- 4-night residential package at £160 for up to 40 students + leaders. Includes accommodation, 10 x activities and full board catering

Book January - March 2025 trip and pay 2024 prices.
We offer group residential packages which include accommodation, cateirng and activities. Book before 1st December 2024 and secure our 2024 prices.
