Business WorkshopOur workshops also align strongly with the business and enterprise curriculum by promoting entrepreneurial thinking, problem-solving, and real-world creativity. Activities such as fashion design, Trash to Fashion, and graffiti mural planning encourage students to think like designers, marketers, and project managers—developing ideas from concept to final product. They gain insights into branding, audience engagement, teamwork, and presentation skills, all while exploring the commercial and cultural value of the creative industries. These sessions help young people understand how creativity can be turned into enterprise, inspiring future careers and business opportunities in the arts.
Performing Arts WorkshopOur workshops offer a dynamic and engaging way to meet key objectives within the Performing Arts curriculum. Sessions such as beatboxing, rap & lyric writing, and breakdancing encourage students to develop performance skills, rhythm, timing, vocal expression, and movement. They build confidence, stage presence, and the ability to collaborate with others in creative ensembles. Through improvisation, rehearsal, and live performance, students explore identity, storytelling, and emotion—all essential elements of performing arts. These workshops provide an exciting platform for self-expression and help young people build transferable skills in communication, creativity, and collaboration.
Art WorkshopOur urban arts workshops directly support and enrich the national art curriculum by encouraging creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking. Through hands-on experiences in graffiti, fashion design, upcycled art, and mural creation, students explore key artistic concepts such as colour, form, pattern, and composition. They learn to develop ideas, experiment with different media, and evaluate their own and others' work in a supportive, inclusive environment. These workshops also introduce contemporary urban art forms, broadening cultural understanding and connecting classroom learning to real-world creative practices.
PSHE WorkshopClick to read full text Our workshops are a powerful tool for supporting the PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) curriculum, helping young people build confidence, resilience, and self-awareness through creative expression. Activities like rap & lyric writing, beatboxing, and fashion design provide safe spaces for students to explore identity, emotions, and social issues in a positive and constructive way. Team-based workshops such as mural painting and breakdancing promote cooperation, respect, and communication, while also encouraging goal setting and perseverance. By engaging in these creative experiences, students develop a stronger sense of self, empathy for others, and the skills to navigate the challenges of everyday life with confidence and creativity.
Team Building WorkshopClick to read full text Our workshops are ideal for fostering teamwork and collaboration, making them perfect for team building across all age groups. Whether students are co-creating a graffiti mural, designing fashion pieces in pairs, or performing together in a breakdancing or beatboxing session, they must communicate, listen, and support one another to succeed. These shared creative experiences break down social barriers, build trust, and encourage a sense of shared achievement. By working toward a common goal in a fun, relaxed environment, participants develop essential team-building skills such as cooperation, problem-solving, and leadership—skills that are valuable both in and out of the classroom.
At Street Style Surgery, we are proud to have over 20 years of experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our workshops are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and empowering. We believe every young person should have the opportunity to express themselves, build confidence, and develop new skills in a supportive environment.
All of our urban arts workshops can be adapted to meet the individual needs of participants. We are skilled in working with young people who may face challenges with communication, mobility, sensory processing, or behavioural needs, and we tailor our delivery to suit those requirements with sensitivity and care.
Our sessions often provide an alternative way for SEN pupils to connect with others, regulate emotions, and find joy in creative expression. Many of our past participants have flourished in these workshops finding success and pride in their creations, performances, and contributions. Whether it's the calm focus of painting a canvas, the rhythm and structure of lyric writing, or the freedom of movement in dance, each activity offers meaningful opportunities for personal growth.
Street Style Surgery is committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces where creativity and individuality are celebrated. We continue to work closely with SEN schools, support staff, and care professionals to ensure that every workshop we deliver is both impactful and enjoyable for all involved.
