A free summer camping weekend for headteachers - on us
Running a school is relentless. By the time the summer holidays arrive, most headteachers we know are running on empty - and a week of admin catch-up isn't exactly the reset you deserve.
So this summer, we're doing something a little different. Land & Wave is offering a completely free camping weekend in Purbeck for headteachers and their families. Proper camping, proper adventure, proper time off - and not a single thing to organise or pay for.
Where you'll be
Our campsite sits in the heart of the Purbeck Hills, one of the most stunning corners of Dorset. Corfe Castle is just down the road - you can walk the ramparts with the kids while the village below looks like it's been lifted straight from a storybook. Swanage Bay is a short drive away, with calm water perfect for paddling and picnics. And the River Frome winds through Wareham, a classic Dorset market town that's well worth an afternoon's explore.
This is the Jurassic Coast on your doorstep. It's the kind of place people spend years trying to get a holiday cottage in.
What's included
Everything. Meals are taken care of - think campfire cooking and proper breakfasts - and you'll have access to a taste of what Land & Wave does best. Expect some activities from our team if you want them, whether that's getting on the water, trying your hand at bushcraft, or something a little more relaxed. And if you'd rather just walk, read, and let the kids run wild in a field, that's absolutely fine too.
There's no agenda. No schedule to stick to. Just a few days to remember what it feels like to breathe.
Why are we doing this?
Honestly - because we love working with schools, and we want the people leading them to see what Dorset has to offer at its best. If you come away feeling like your students would love it here, brilliant. But that's not the deal. The weekend is simply our way of saying thank you to the people doing one of the hardest jobs going.

Watersports are our speciality. From kayaking in the stunning and sheltered Swanage Bay and Paddle Boarding from the sandy shores through to the adrenaline fuelled coasteering - we have something for everyone.
We can even provide excursions to the local inflatable waterpark too. Our watersports sessions are designed to ensure every child progresses and leaves with a sense of accomplishment.

We cater for groups of 10 to 350 people.

We have marquee space at our campsite and large conference rooms at our indoor accommodation options
Is there first aid on site?
Yes, all of the Instructors are First Aid Qualified, have training in CPR and Defib Training.
Groups with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
At Land & Wave, we make outdoor adventure accessible for all students. Our instructors are experienced in supporting a wide range of SEN needs and work closely with teachers to ensure every young person feels safe and included.
We adapt our land and water-based activities across the Purbeck to suit different ability levels, sensory needs, and communication styles. We can adjust the pace, simplify tasks, and provide clear, supportive guidance throughout.
