Experience STEM in Zero-Gravity: VR Space Workshop
Immersive Pathways
Immersive Pathways
Travel to the International Space Station in this breath-taking virtual reality experience where students move around the ISS in zero-gravity.
We can visit your school in: East Midlands, West Midlands, London & South East, East of England, North East, North West, Yorkshire
Modernise your careers education and help meet Gatsby benchmarks 2, 3, & 4 using virtual reality. Students learn about the role of a remote handling technician who operates a mechanical arm on the ISS. They experience the ultimate destination for a career in astrophysics and engineering on board the ISS. The workshop teaches students about the space industry and puts exciting STEM careers within reach using VR.
Students experience Design Technology through a design challenge in space!. After exploring the International Space Station in VR, they must design an extra feature to improve life or work on board. Using 3D pens, they turn ideas into physical prototypes all while floating in zero-gravity. Our DT variation of the ISS workshop supports creative problem-solving, and modelling skills, helping students see how DT can be used to solve real-world challenges in an unusual and inspiring environment.
Students discover how engineering makes life in space possible. They see how systems are designed to work together in a highly challenging environment. They then complete an engineering design challenge, using 3D pens to create an extra feature for the ISS. This could involve improving storage, safety, movement or daily life on board. The workshop develops problem-solving, creative thinking and practical design skills while helping students understand how engineering is used to overcome real-world challenges.
Students explore physics through an immersive journey into space. Using VR, they observe a moving model of the solar system and see how the planets orbit the Sun, helping them understand key ideas such as gravity, forces and motion. They also explore the International Space Station to see how these principles affect life and work in orbit. The workshop makes physics more visual, engaging and easier to connect to the real world of space exploration.
All sessions are fully inclusive to SEND students including wheelchair users. We deliver to lots of specialist schools and find that students with ASD in particular respond well during virtual reality workshops. The technology removes barriers to education, allowing SEND students to gain experiences that aren't possible in the real-world.
