Facilities include modern hot showers & toilets, potwash, restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating, shop, play barn, campfires, bush craft area with archery and axe throwing targets, team building challenges, pioneering and more.

- Evening activities available from film nights to campfire smores

- All catering is provided onsite, choose from cold or cooked breakfasts, authentic wood fired pizzas, rotisserie chicken and much more.

Which curriculum topics do we cater for?

green tick Bushcraft School Trip


Various bush craft based activities are offered in our specially designed bush craft area, including:

Pioneering: Learn knot tying, lashing (tying spars together with rope), whipping (binding the end of a rope with thin twine), splicing (joining or binding the end of a rope using its own fibres), & build a den as a team using your new skills.

Fire Lighting: Participants learn various methods of fire lighting to safely create a campfire using flint, steel, wire wool and a magnifying glass, culminating in cooking marshmallows over your fire.

Through interactive tasks, children enhance their communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Sessions are instructor led.

Learn what it takes to be an effective team & put those skills to the test solving the fun & interactive team building activities. From quick logic based puzzles to larger physical activities, children will understand the importance of talking, listening & working together.

If you're looking for accommodation only, that's completely fine. We can accommodate between 5 and 6 children per bell tent or you are welcome to bring your own tents to make it a real outdoor adventure!

Lathe Barn is ideally situated for a short journey to many historical sites, including Dover Castle, Leeds Castle, London City, Canterbury Cathedral or even for a trip into Europe, being just 20 minutes from the Euro Tunnel.

We are also happy to help arrange off-site activities with packed lunches.

Orienteering Archery

Click to read full text Archery: Both hard and soft archery sessions are available, focusing on coordination, precision, and safety under expert supervision.

Axe Throwing: This activity teaches discipline and focus, offering a unique way to develop resilience and accuracy.

Orienteering: Learn the skills to navigate using a map & compass. Put these skills into action by finding the checkpoints hidden around the site. Exercise for the body & mind as well as exploring the outdoors & working as a team.

We are also close to Action Water sports in Lympne, who offer multiple water sports and we are happy to help you arrange off site activities with them.

Craft

Tie Dye : A creative session where you get the chance to take home your own colourful masterpiece. A fun activity that brings the group together, letting them create something totally unique. T-shirts & tote bags are available to tie-dye or bring your own item!

Craft: A creative session making your own craft item to take home. We have a range of arty activities to choose from; we encourage the use of natural resources to help you create beautiful things!


What size groups do we cater for?

We can accommodate groups between 10 and 120 children.

On-site classroom facilities?

We have several indoor spaces available you can make use of during your stay; including a large barn with soft play suitable for children up to 8 years old, table tennis, giant chess and other interactive activities. We also show our film night in this space. Additionally we have a shop and restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating available.

Is there first aid on site?

Yes, all our instructors are first aid trained.

Access for visitors with disabilities

We have accessible toilet & bathroom facilities onsite and all spaces are wheelchair accessible.

Anything else?

All our residential and day trips offer exclusive use of the site, ample free parking, with free teacher spaces, a shop selling snacks, cold drinks and barista coffee.

Who are Fallow Fields Camping?

Fallow Fields has been established since 2016 operating 2 campsites in Kent. Lathe Barn is set in the foothills of Port Lympne, close to several beaches, water sports providers, wild life centres and historical sites.

Lathe Barn is set in 10.5 acres and family run by Rob and Gemma who bring a wealth of experience from homeschooling their own children and with a passion to all things outdoors.
