Where we travel to

We can visit your school in: East Midlands, West Midlands, London & South East, East of England, South West, North East, North West, Yorkshire

What activities are available during this school workshop?

Our workshop days are designed to be shared between 3-4 KS2 classes. Each class or year group can select a theme to match their current topic. We currently have the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, and WW2, with Vikings, Space, and Tudors planned for the middle of 2026!

Each Puzzle Locker day includes the following activities:

1. Pre-Workshop Introduction (30 minutes)
Before the escape room adventure begins, teachers are provided with a classroom-based PowerPoint briefing. This includes tutorial videos, clear learning objectives, and background information to build excitement and prepare pupils for the challenge ahead.

2. The Escape Room Experience (60 minutes)
The main event takes place in the school hall. Each topic features three mini escape rooms, lasting approximately 12-15 minutes each. Every level is enquiry-based, encouraging pupils to work in teams to solve puzzles, collect artefacts, and unlock clues that help them answer their key question.

3. Follow-Up Resources (60 minutes)
To extend learning beyond the experience, every workshop comes with follow-up resource packs created by qualified teachers. These include word searches, crosswords, comprehension tasks, and maths challenges to reinforce the learning objectives in a fun, engaging way.

Which curriculum topics do we cater for?

Pharaohs Mummies Gods and Goddesses Pyramids and Tombs Hieroglyphics Sphinx Belief in the Afterlife

In this immersive Egyptian escape room, pupils are transported back to Ancient Egypt to rebuild a broken Sphinx, recover escaped mummies inside a tomb, and restore damaged statues of the gods before it's too late.

The workshop is divided into three themed mini escape room challenges, each centred on a key enquiry question about Ancient Egypt. Working in teams, pupils solve puzzles and collect artefacts to uncover new information and deepen their understanding of this fascinating civilisation.

Room 1: The Broken Sphinx
A statue of the Sphinx has been badly damaged near the River Nile. Your class must solve three puzzles to recover the broken pieces and restore it!

Pupils will explore:
- The vital role of the River Nile in Ancient Egyptian life
- How pharaohs shaped and influenced society
- The purpose and significance of pyramid building

Room 2: The Missing Mummies
Three mummies have mysteriously vanished from their coffins! Your class must solve three puzzles to track them down and complete the mummification process.

Pupils will learn about:
- The steps involved in preparing bodies for the afterlife
- The purpose and use of canopic jars
- How and where mummies were stored

Room 3: Restoring the Shrine
Three statues of Egyptian gods have been damaged in an ancient shrine - and the gods are growing restless. Can your class solve the puzzles and restore the shrine before the gods become angry?

Pupils will discover:
- Key Egyptian gods and their roles in life and nature
- What each god governed
- The unique appearances of Egyptian gods

What size groups do we cater for?

We work with 3-4 KS2 classes per day, and each class or year group can choose a workshop that fits their current topic.

Each escape room session in the school hall can accommodate up to 33 pupils at once. We provide 11 interactive puzzle mats and 11 iPads, with pupils working in teams of three to complete the challenges.

📍 Please note: The escape room must take place in the school hall. When booking, consider hall availability around breakfast clubs, break times, and lunch.

Access for visitors with disabilities

We aim to make our workshops as inclusive as possible. However, our escape room experiences may be challenging for children with visual impairments.

As a new provider, we're committed to improving accessibility and welcome teacher feedback to help us adapt and develop our workshops for all pupils.

Who are Puzzle Locker?

Puzzle Locker is the UK's first immersive escape room workshop, designed by teachers in collaboration with curriculum experts. Using interactive puzzle mats and cutting-edge technology, we transform school halls into engaging, team-based puzzle adventures, where children work together to solve challenges, collect artefacts, and explore the past through hands-on learning.

Our workshops are built around the 4Cs of 21st-century learning:

🧠 Critical Thinking - Every puzzle is a problem to crack. Pupils analyse clues, make connections, and think strategically to unlock each stage.

🗣 Communication - Success relies on clear discussion and active listening. Every team member has a role to play.

🤝 Collaboration - No one succeeds alone. Pupils support each other, share ideas, and celebrate their achievements together.

✨ Creativity - From decoding ancient symbols to solving themed puzzles, we spark imaginative thinking that makes learning memorable.
