Ancient Greeks Experience Day Workshop

Classroom Adventures

School Workshop

trip icon In this immersive and interactive experience day all about the Ancient Greeks Demodocus, a hoplite (soldier), introduces you to a rich Athenian family where your pupils will discover how different members of the same family can live very different lives. They will also meet slaves and discover some of the ways they were integrated into Greek culture.

Children will discover some of the myths and legends that underpinned Hellenistic culture, and they will get involved as they role play and act out different stories throughout the day.

It's not all tea and biscuits in your rich Athenian mansion though! In the second half of the day children will prepare for war as they meet the Spartans. Children will get to see real weapons and armour that the Ancient Greeks relied upon in warfare (replicas) and see if they have what it takes to fight like a true Hellene and hold formation in the famous Greek Phalanx.

If they do well, then they might get rewarded with some down time and enjoy activities that real soldiers entertained themselves with 2,500 years ago.

This is a great experience day to really grip the imagination and enthusiasm of your pupils as they study the world of the Ancient Greeks.
