Over the last 28 years The Caldecotte Xperience has been delivering a high level of Outdoor Education to a wide variety of schools, youth groups and other government agencies. We offer a targeted approach to the school’s own aims and objectives with real and measurable outcomes.

Covering all Paddle Sports and Rock Climbing, our courses also provide exit routes into progressive clubs for students who wish to continue to higher levels and qualifications.

Courses cover the 12 hours of content required for each sport, with tuition options available either on a weekly basis or over a 2 or 3 day residential. Tuition also includes the opportunity for your school to fully record your candidates taking part in each required level of the programme.

Full course materials are also provided to candidates for use in school and externally, in preparation for each of the practical elements.

green tick Bushcraft School Trip

Providing an opportunity for young people to connect to the natural world is vitally important for their own health, well being and learning. Developing an appreciation for nature and ecosystems at an early age, will encourage a better understanding and respect for the natural environment. By making time away from typical day-to-day distractions like phones and screens, young people can get an opportunity to breathe the air rich with life, to get a bit messy, and learn new bushcraft and camp craft skills.

How Caldecotte Xperience makes survival skills and outdoor living fun
We aim to teach new skills which create a deeper level of understanding of the world around us. Young people will learn the skills, and the attitude necessary to feel safe with their new survival skills for outdoor living.

Our highly skilled staff will teach the basics of outdoor living, fun survival skills, cooking, fire making, shelter building and many other outdoor activities. They’ll help young people also absorb the essential-skills for success in any environment, things like: curiosity; communication; problem-solving; awareness; teamwork and responsibility. And they’ll do all this while having the time of their lives, under the careful guidance of our trained staff.

Bushcraft and camp craft is available as single sessions with a particular focus, a whole day of skills based activities or even a programme which can include camping out, cooking your own food and building your own overnight shelters.

Paddle sports are one of the best recreational activities accessible to all ages and abilities. They are all fun, often challenging and enable everyone to stay involved.

At Caldecotte Xperience we offer Kayaking, Paddleboarding and Canoeing. As a British Canoe Union approved centre we offer accredited courses for all ages from Paddle Power Start which is ideal for for younger participants, up to full instructed and certificated courses.
Caldecotte Canoeing for all ages and abilities
At Caldecotte Xperience our instructors love introducing young people to new sports, and canoeing is now exception. We are keen to let you demonstrate your new found skills and techniques, and then see you progress and take your canoeing to the next level.

Rafted Canoeing – waves of fun
We also offer the challenging team-building activity of Rafted Canoeing. This involves getting two canoes tied together with ropes to make catamarans, holding 8-10 people. Using learned paddling skills groups travel around the lake taking part in games both on and off the water – moving from canoe to canoe, trying to stay dry – teamwork is essential.

Paddle boarding – anyone can do it!
Taking a paddle boarding lesson is about progressing quickly and maximising the fun factor. Our professional and BCU qualified instructors will have you up and paddling in no time. You will progress quickly and will come out of your lessons with a completely different perspective on your ability and where to go next with it. Anyone can Paddleboard – you just need to give it a go!
Sailing for young people of all abilities
As a Royal Yachting Association training centre, we can offer anything from taster sessions through to Beginners and advanced certificated courses. Our fleet of boats ensures that any ability can be catered for on our own 35-acre lake.

Wayfarer, Feva , Vago, Vision and Pico dinghy sailing on our lake provides participants with the basics of sailing in a safe and exciting environment. We also have a 20 foot Devon Lugger for young people with disabilities and small groups to enjoy working together as a crew. We have fantastic access dinghies and specialist hoists for those with mobility difficulties so that they can also enjoy the magic of wind assisted travel.

We also have an amazing wheelyboat that enables young people with wheelchairs, including those with complex needs to fully access the water, in a high powered craft, without the need to leave their chairs.

green tick Team Building School Trip

Click to read full text Team Dynamics for young people of all abilities
Team Dynamics tasks at Caldecotte Xperience are supervised, supported and encouraged by experienced, qualified instructional staff. Some tasks require active physical involvement for success others require the group to think and use a common sense approach.

Team Dynamics task examples
Spider’s Web
Teams start the task on one side of a large spider’s web, the team must cross through the web without touching it, as this will awaken the spider. The team must work together to help each other through. Great to learn proper lifting skills and talking in turn and listening to others.

Skis
Teams step onto two large skis, one foot on either ski. Using ropes to hold and communicating with each other the team must start to walk a set route. Timing and teamwork is crucial for success.

Duck Rescue
Teams are presented with a tube with many holes in. A plastic duck must be rescued that has fallen into the tube. In order to do this the team must fill the tube with water to raise the duck to the top. The water will leak from the holes in the tube, in order to succeed the team must work together to block the holes using only themselves.

Also available:
Monkey puzzle, Ravine, Electric fence, Stepping stones, Drainpipe, Steeplechase, Bungee, Nightline, Juggernaut, Low ropes Raft building & Jacobs Ladder.
