Knife Crime Workshops

Openview Education

School Workshop

trip icon Over the last 10 years there has been an 81% increase in police recorded offences involving a knife or sharp instrument.

Furthermore, young people and teenagers are now twice as likely to be a victim of knife crime than they were 10 years ago.*

What can be done to stop knife crime and keep young people safe?

To support young people and schools with this challenge, OpenView Education provides interactive Knife Crime Awareness Workshops.

We have age appropriate workshops for Upper KS2 and KS3 Students, enabling schools to tackle this challenging topic in an interactive, engaging way, specifically designed for the age of your students.

What activities are available during this school workshop?

➡️ Positive Choices for Life Assembly➡️

Kick-start the day with our Positive Choices for Life Assembly, designed for Upper KS2 and Year 7 students as an early intervention approach to knife crime awareness, gang culture, and positive relationships.

Through character monologues performed by a professional actor and engaging animations, students will explore the key issues surrounding knife crime and its consequences.

This assembly serves as an ideal starting point for ongoing discussions about making safe and positive choices, even when faced with difficult situations.

Students will meet Cameron, a character facing a tough decision. By completing interactive challenges, they’ll help him navigate peer pressure, make the right choices, and find the support he needs.

➡️Positive Choices for Life Workshops➡️

Following the assembly, students will take part in interactive class workshops, delving deeper into the themes explored earlier. They’ll gain a clear understanding of the laws surrounding knife crime and why carrying a knife is never a safe option.

Through role-play exercises, students will practise standing up to peer pressure in a confident and assertive way, equipping them with the skills to make positive life choices.
