What activities are available during educational visits?

Secondary school teachers looking to book an educational visit will discover:

- We give students the opportunity to explore historical topics and meet important historical figures via an interactive tour
- We provide teachers with free cross-curricular teaching resources for the classroom.

Which curriculum topics do we cater for?

English School Trip


Story writing Creative writing Storytelling

Pupils will be invited to think about the historical context of The Dungeons and how to bring a scene to life through scriptwriting, stretching their English skills, all in the dark and mysterious and utterly horrible setting of the Dungeons itself!

Performing Arts School Trip


Pupils will delve into the historical stories of The Dungeons and how they can bring a scene to life, with a key focus on the horror genre. They will develop their drama skills, combining scriptwriting and performance techniques, all in the dark and mysterious and utterly horrible setting of the Dungeons itself!

Local History School Trip


Journey through 1,000 years of Lancashire's murky history, as our full cast of entertaining theatrical actors brings to life hilariously horrifying stories from the depths of Blackpool's past.

Step into the eerie darkness of the chapel at Lytham Priory. Hear the monk tell tales of the history of the Fylde Coast, from Viking invasions to the War of the Roses, then hear to the Torture chamber of Lancaster Castle, where you learn all about the history of torture and the tools used.

Hear tales of the late Meg Shelton, the infamous Witch of Woodplumton, were you'll discover her harrowing history, then Hear the story of Alizon Device in her own words. As one of Pendle's witches, she was hung for her crime.


What size groups do we cater for?

Enquiries can be made for any group size, and groups of 100+ can visit, but we recommend touring the attraction in groups of no more than 10 + a teacher in order for each child to fully experience the interactive areas.

On-site classroom facilities?

The Blackpool Tower Dungeon does not have classroom facilities available onsite.

Is there first aid on site?

We have fully trained first aiders on site at all times.

Access for visitors with disabilities

For wheelchair users:
- The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is fully wheelchair accessible. Navigating around the Dungeon will be mainly through level pathways. However, due to the nature of the attraction, some floor surfaces are uneven
- For safety reasons, we can only admit 1 wheelchair user per tour group
- Wheelchairs are available at The Blackpool Tower to hire. Please speak to one of our admissions team when you arrive to assist
- Please note that The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is not accessible by mobility scooter

For those with other mobility impairments:
- We are a 90-110 minute walking experience and guests are required to stand for a majority of it

For those with autism and other neuro-diverse conditions:
- We are a highly sensory experience with dark spaces, loud noises, flashing/strobe lights, pungent smells and jump scares
- If you cannot be subjected to strobe lighting, we would recommend you speak to a team member regards to this
- At any point, during the tour, feel free to let a member of staff know if you or a member of your party needs to leave or take some time out
