Science & STEM Trip to Geneva with Equity School Trips

Equity - The School Travel People

trip icon Geneva plays host to numerous science-focussed excursions, from dams to mines, to museums and interactive experiences, you'll find plenty of options to deepen your understanding of science in world-class facilities.

The most famous of these options in Geneva is CERN. Since it was founded in 1954, CERN has been at the forefront of research in science, particle physics, and leading-edge technologies. The thousands of scientists and engineers based here provide students with a glimpse of what it's like to experience a dynamic, international research environment.

**Please note that CERN requires schools to book their tours and visits directly. Equity can provide guidance and arrange everything else for your trip, but cannot book your CERN tickets.**

In Geneva, you'll also find plenty of other science focussed excursions, including Emosson Dam, the Bex Salt Mines, the History of Science Museum, the Swiss Plasma Center, SIG Energy Pavilion, and the Geneva Botanical Gardens, amongst many more! If you're interested in finding out more, be sure to give our friendly Account Managers a call to discuss your options.

Example Itineraries for our 2026 trips

CERN & Large Hadron Collider
Discover the quest for the origins of the universe and learn about the biggest particle accelerator in the world, the Large Hadron Collider. Students can study the laws of nature and discuss the importance of the Higgs boson particle at permanent exhibits like 'Universe of Particles' and 'Microcosm'.

Emosson Dam
Across Lake Geneva lies the immense hydroelectric Emosson Dam. Surrounded by stunning scenery, students can learn about renewable energy, in particular hydroelectric power, and the output of the dam's two stations, as well as its construction and design.

Bex Salt Mines
Visit the Bex Salt mines and discover a vast underground labyrinth and learn about the excavation techniques used from the 17th Century through to today. There's almost 50 km of passages, including a train to take you to the heart of the mine. Chemistry students can learn about salt springs, the desalination of rock containing salt and more.

History of Science Museum
Showcasing a large collection of rare and unique scientific instruments from the 17th to 19th century, this museum will see your students exploring how subjects like astronomy, microscopy, electricity and more evolved over time.

Swiss Plasma Center
Similar to CERN, the Swiss Plasma Center is at the forefront of technological advances. Focussing on nuclear fusion, you'll learn how this centre is paving the way for a future with limitless, renewable energy.

Geneva Botanical Gardens
For those looking for a biology excursion, this botanical garden provides a brilliant insight into herbariums and caring for over 12,000 species of plants. Opened in 1817, this garden is now a living museum with plants from all across the world.
