Visit the Furnas Volcanic Centre to learn about the island's geological history and volcanic phenomena. Walk around the Caldera lake, formed within a volcanic crater, and take a look at the hot springs and fumaroles that have ongoing geothermal activity. The tour also includes a visit to the famous Botanical Gardens, showcasing native and exotic plant species, and a visit to a local tea plantation, where students can learn about the island's agricultural practices and the importance of geothermal energy. Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening of relaxation.
Day 3: Spend the day exploring Lago do Fogo (Lake of Fire), a stunning caldera lake formed within a volcanic crater. The day includes a visit to Caldeira Velha, a natural hot spring with warm waterfalls perfect for observing geothermal energy in action. Continue to the geothermal power plant to understand how volcanic activity supplies sustainable energy to the region. Later, you can relax at the hot springs of Ribeira Grande, where students can observe the geothermal features firsthand. In the evening, enjoy dinner in the nearby town of Ribeira Grande, followed by a stargazing session at the renowned Astronomy Centre.
