Build dens, light campfires, track wildlife and discover the secrets of the woodland. Our Bushcraft sessions immerse pupils in practical outdoor adventures that develop confidence, resilience and teamwork through hands-on challenges in a natural environment. Working together to solve problems in the woods helps build communication, leadership and decision-making skills while fostering a sense of responsibility and respect for the environment. Pupils learn about local wildlife, habitats and natural resources through engaging activities such as animal tracking, tree identification and shelter building, promoting curiosity, environmental awareness and a deeper connection with the natural world.
Access a diverse range of coastal, freshwater and woodland habitats within the stunning surroundings of Ardentinny. We provide flexible field study opportunities for university and school groups, allowing students and staff to design and undertake investigations that meet their specific learning and research objectives. Participants can carry out qualitative and quantitative data collection, ecological surveys, environmental monitoring and habitat assessments using a variety of fieldwork techniques. Our site offers easy access to a range of natural environments suitable for studies in ecology, geography and environmental science.
Take part in exciting outdoor challenges and discover what you are capable of. Our programme includes climbing, abseiling, archery, gorge walking and guided forest walks, offering a wide range of physical and adventurous experiences in a natural environment. Forest walks provide an opportunity to explore the woodland, improve fitness and develop an appreciation of the natural environment, while more adventurous activities build resilience, teamwork and determination. Pupils are encouraged to push themselves, support others and celebrate personal achievements throughout their experience.
Work together, solve challenges and achieve success as a team. Our team-building activities and low ropes course encourage participants to communicate effectively, think creatively and support one another while tackling a range of physical and mental challenges. Through a series of engaging tasks, groups develop trust, leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fun and supportive environment. The low ropes course requires teamwork, cooperation and careful planning to navigate obstacles successfully, helping participants build confidence and resilience while recognising the strengths that each individual brings to the group.
Splash, paddle and explore the outdoors from a whole new perspective. Our watersports activities include stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and rafted canoeing, giving young people the chance to have fun on the water while learning new skills. Whether paddling as part of a team in a rafted canoe or building confidence on a kayak or paddleboard, participants are encouraged to challenge themselves, work together and enjoy new experiences
We believe no child should miss out on a residential course and coming to Ardentinny is one fantastic way to help create opportunities for adventurous learning: opportunities that help equip young people for living well with change and uncertainty, risk and challenge, creativity and motivation.
