YHA Whitby School Trip

Residential Trip Residentials Yorkshire

trip icon Positioned atop Whitby's famous 199 steps, YHA Whitby offers stunning views of the town, coast and moorland. The bedrooms (mostly en suite) span three floors and there is a meeting room available to use. We also have group catering, which includes a hearty breakfast, packed lunches and a wholesome evening meal, so you can relax after a day full of adventure exploring. Free Wi-Fi is available in social spaces.

Nearby attractions include fossil-hunting, Dracula heritage sites and traditional seaside fun. Plus, with Flamingo Land and Eden Camp nearby, there's no shortage of entertainment options for your group. Discovery packages and individual activities like town trails, jet polishing workshops and night hikes are available as well.

YHA Whitby offers an unforgettable experience with many original artefacts throughout the hostel. Look out for the interpretation boards with information about features including a 13th-century carved oak Viking beam and stunning Victorian stained glass.

What activities are available during educational visits?

Discovery package - Our discovery package allows teachers to offer a flexible programme of fun and challenging activities. Activities available include archery, orienteering, shelter building, team challenges, guided walks, navigation kikes and let’s get cooking.

YHA bolt-on - These activities are perfect for teachers to add on as an 'extra' particularly for self-led groups. The benefit of having hostel grounds is that we can offer space to lead activities without you needing to travel anywhere. Activities include: team challenges, shelter building, archery, guided walk, fire lighting & Go create.

What size groups do we cater for?

YHA Whitby has 134 beds, so we can cater for both large and small groups.

On-site classroom facilities?

Yes We do have the ability to provide a classroom-like environment. You can tell us your group size and any specific requirements in the form below.

Is there first aid on site?

Yes, and we are also committed to ensuring we meet stringent health and safety standards - please contact us if you need any further details

Access for visitors with disabilities

At YHA Whitby we strive to cater for everybody. We have one accessible bedroom with an accessible en suite bathroom on the first floor. There are two accessible WCs, which both contain grab rails, low wash basins fitted with lever taps and emergency cords.
