Resilience: Training for Life is a practical, interactive workshop designed to help pupils develop the skills to respond more positively to pressure, setbacks, frustration and everyday challenges.
Rather than simply telling young people to "be resilient", The Life Dojo gives them opportunities to explore and practise resilience through age-appropriate discussion, challenges, scenarios and reflective activities.
During the workshop, pupils explore how they react when things do not go to plan, how emotions can affect their decisions and how they can regain control before choosing their next action.
They are introduced to The Life Dojo Method:
CALM → CALCULATED → COURAGEOUS
CALM - Regain control of your emotions and response.
CALCULATED - Assess what is happening, consider your options and think about the consequences.
COURAGEOUS - Choose the appropriate action, even when it feels difficult.
Pupils will learn how to:
- manage frustration and setbacks more constructively;
- recognise what is within their control;
- develop healthier attitudes towards mistakes and failure;
- problem-solve when faced with difficulty;
- take greater responsibility for their choices;
- build confidence through action and experience.
The workshop is suitable for KS2, KS3 and KS4, with activities, language and scenarios adapted to the age and maturity of the group.
Teachers choose this workshop because it combines PSHE and personal-development outcomes with practical, experiential learning. Pupils do not simply learn what resilience means, they begin to practice it.
