Our immersive experiences are a big tick for cultural capital, providing opportunities for pupils to use their Spanish language in an authentic environment. The experience allows children to gain an understanding of the richness and diversity of Spain and beyond. French enrichment sessions also available.
CURRICULUM ALIGNMENT
The sessions are designed to meet the KS2 Programme of study / Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and the Curriculum for Wales. The pupils will learn how to:
• listen attentively to spoken language and show understanding by joining in and responding
• engage in conversations
• ask and answer questions
• express opinions and respond to those of others
• speak in sentences, using familiar vocabulary, phrases and basic language structures
• develop accurate pronunciation and intonation so that others understand
• deepen their understanding of the world
There are plenty of opportunities for interaction with our Spanish speaking staff members.
We provide follow-up activities to consolidate the learning from the experience in the classroom including a passport of activities.
DETAILS
The experience takes place across a whole day and requires the space to be available for 1 hour before and after school for set-up/clear up. We recommend 5 sessions in the day with 30 children per session.
At Kidslingo, we pride ourselves on tailoring our packages to the requirements of each school (there are no 'off the peg' packages). We will work with you to ensure that the pupils will make progress throughout the session and have a great time too!
SCHOOL TESTIMONIAL 1
"Our children had a wonderful day! The day was planned really well and there were lots of exciting resources to keep the children engaged. It absolutely inspired a love of languages- our families were excited about the day too. We will definitely do this again!" Ipswich school.
SCHOOL TESTIMONIAL 2
"From the moment the children entered the experience, they were engaged and in awe of all of the wonderful activities on offer! They were able to enjoy each of the tasks, using their language knowledge and new phrases that they had learned at each of the stations. The main takeaway from this experience will be the real-world context that was given to each of the activities." Northampton School.
The day is divided down into a series of activities and each group will rotate through a carousel of all activities during their time slot.
Ideally everything would be set up in the hall - however we can adapt to other spaces in the school if required.
CAROUSEL OF ACTIVITIES
The group all pass through passport control (individual printed passport provided) and board the plane to Spain together. We then split the group into 3 sub-groups that rotate around these 3 activities:
1. Ice cream stand (Kidslingo teacher-led role play, activity sheets and then the chance for pupils to interact and role play together).
2. Souvenir shop & market stall (Kidslingo teacher-led role play, activity sheets and then the chance for pupils to interact and role play together).
3. Postcard writing / posting in a yellow postbox / photobooth style area (supervised by your teacher).
They all then come back together to visit the Spanish café and discuss Spanish food (note - no real food is provided).
Other themed workshops such as Flamenco dancing and cultural workshops are available in some locations.
Normally each group would consist of approx. 30 pupils for a 50 minute duration. On this timescale we can have 5 groups throughout the day. However - we are able to adapt the set up of the day to suit your needs - we have have smaller or larger groups or shorter or longer time slots to accommodate specific requirements.
