Classroom Adventures
Today, you're travelling back over 5,000 years - to a time before metal, before writing, and before farming as we know it.We can visit your school in:
In our Stone Age Experience Day children will learn about the world of the Neolithic, the New Stone Age, and humanity's longest age. They will meet a hunter and learn about hunting and gathering. Children will see firsthand the "tools of the trade" from flint shards to stone tipped arrows, to handheld axes and hunting spears.
We will learn about how we got here through evolution and meet a few friendly faces along the way like Lucy the Australopithecus afarensis, homo neanderthalensis and of course us, the homo sapiens (or homo sapiens sapiens if you prefer)!
Children will have to work together to build and protect their community and even get to have a go at building one of the most ambitious building projects in the stone age: Stone Henge!
In our Stone Age Experience Day pupils learn just how we find out about the past. Because the Stone-Age is pre-history (before written record) all of what we know is down to Archaeologists and Scientists. Children will get a brief overview of this to build the context of how and what we know about life 5,000 years ago.
Life was tough in the Stone Age and if you wanted to survive then being able to work as a team was paramount.
We have filled our Stone Age Experience Day with games and activities to keep both the fun and the energy high throughout the day. Most of these require children to work together in order to achieve the objective.
Our days are aimed to be fun and engaging for all.
Our only requirement is that you/your organisation provide the relevant staffing and equipment needed to facilitate any individual's participation.
You must also be aware that we will be bringing various props and equipment with us that are integral to the content of the day. Many of these can cause injury if used incorrectly. Therefore, safety and safeguarding is of upmost concern and we may not be able to deliver a day if behaviour is dangerous or staffing levels are insufficient.
- Designed for learning, not just entertainment
Every experience day is carefully structured to support KS2 history objectives, encouraging enquiry, discussion, and critical thinking alongside enjoyment.
- Immersive, full-day experiences
We don't deliver short workshops or assemblies. Each visit is a complete day of learning, allowing pupils time to explore ideas in depth and fully engage with the period.
- Led by costumed historical interpreters
Pupils learn from knowledgeable facilitators who bring history to life through storytelling, discussion, and hands-on activities - not scripts or performances.
- Hands-on, object-based learning
Pupils see and handle replica artefacts, tools, weapons, and equipment, helping them make tangible connections with the past.
- Inclusive and adaptable
Our days are designed to be accessible, with flexibility built in to support a wide range of pupils and school settings.
- Clear structure and professional delivery
We work alongside school staff, maintaining high standards of behaviour, safety, and safeguarding throughout the day.
- Experience you can trust
Classroom Adventures' staff have been delivering educational experience days since 2016, working with schools across the UK to provide high-quality, memorable learning.
