Explore Victorian health care with Florence Nightingale. Our Florence Nightingale workshop places children in Scutari Hospital during the Crimean War. They can explore Victorian artefacts while using drama and role play to help Florence change nursing.
Meet ‘the Lady with the Lamp’ herself! Children will learn about Florence Nightingale’s life and why she became a nurse. They will also learn about Scutari Hospital during the Crimean War and the improvements she made there. They can explore Victorian artefacts while using drama and role play to help Florence change nursing practice. They will gain an understanding of the impact she had on hospital design, the training of nurses and patient care.
Please talk to us about your Special Educational Needs so we can accommodate your children’s requirements.
Off the Page presents history the way you wish you had learned it as a child. Our experienced teachers immerse your children in a topic to create an unforgettable learning experience. Our school workshops are no mere presentations with a bit of artefact handling – we build an atmosphere using authentic materials, allowing children to live the history through drama, role play and hands-on activities. The result is an understanding and enthusiasm for a topic that is difficult to create with books alone.
