The Blackpool Tower Circus worksheet encourages pupils consider their sensory experience using interesting vocabulary to describe it. Included in the post trip teaching materials is various tasks relating to descriptive writing. These include a diary entry from the perspective of Mooky the clown, and a storyboard showing the development of the circus from its opening to incorporate some historical elements into the pupil's learning. Finally, pupils will use the senses they recorded whilst inside the circus to create a poem or piece of prose inspired by the circus.
The Circus offers pupils the opportunity to extend their vocabulary for descriptive writing and write sensory descriptions which can later be used for creative writing.
As part of The Blackpool Tower Eye worksheet, pupils are encouraged to compare and contrast the Eiffel Tower to The Blackpool Tower. This includes considering what the two buildings have in common and how they differ, along with the question of who were their architects. The materials also encourage pupils to identify landmarks of historical and modern significance in the North West.
