Obertauern, Austria School Trip

IBT Travel

Skiing Trips

trip icon Obertauern is an ideal resort for school groups and a short coach trip from your hotel (approximately 25 minutes) will take you to 100km of varied snow sure skiing.

The 26 lifts are carefully positioned all around the resort to form a unique ski arena - the red Tauern round runs clockwise and the green Tauern round runs anticlockwise. The cleverly arranged system (the majority of the slopes being blue runs (61km) and red runs (35km) offers the possibility to ski the entire valley from a single lift and return to the same starting point.

Spacious ski bridges have been erected for crossing the road! This means plenty of piste for improving skiers to gain confidence and a perfect location for a school group.

More advance skiers are not forgotten and they can take the Super Seven challenge to check off the seven highest points in the Obertauern ski circuit. The Super Seven are all highlighted with the 'S7' makers and take in most of the 4km of black runs in the resort. There is also, subject to conditions, some fabulous off piste skiing available.

Fun fact: The Beatles filmed part of their iconic music video for "Help!" here in Obertauern. The band's playful antics, paired with the breath-taking scenery, created an unforgettable visual moment in music history, making Obertauern not just a location but a key part of The Beatles' cinematic legacy.

Who are IBT Travel?

IBT Travel were founded as Mountain Travel in 1986 and originally operated day and weekend trips to the Cairngorms in Scotland. Within a few years we operated the largest volume of groups of any operator in the UK to the Scottish ski slopes. In the early 1990’s it became clear that our loyal client base was demanding new horizons and the experience of skiing in Europe so we re-focused our attention on developing specialised school ski trips to Europe.

Now over 38 years later, IBT Travel has evolved into one of the UK’s leading tour operators specialising in top level ski tours for discerning party leaders along with an equally strong educational division.

Our focus remains on delivering a superior ski experience for our groups without compromising on the quality of the services we use. This ethos pervades all aspects of our business including our approach to customer service, health and safety procedures and your financial protection.

In present times it is clear that our continuing business is only sustainable by developing a relationship of trust and respect with our customers that is surpassed only by a desire to exceed client expectations.
