Cumulus Outdoors forging a path into the future

For any provider in the outdoor activity and residential sector the health and safety of our customers is a top priority, this is nothing new and in many ways we already have the tools to safeguard against the pandemic, both through robust operating procedures and highly trained staff. Innovation is part of what we do and adapting to the next challenge is part of our ethos, at Cumulus we have been and will continue to adapt to new guidelines and regulations as they are rolled out.

We have successfully adapted many of our activities and procedures to operate in a Covid Secure manner, for example we have run a reduced capacity programme of Gold DofE Residentials throughout the summer, when rules allowed, which have proved very successful. We had to adapt our accommodation and activity offering as well as the way we interact with visitors during their time on site. Our flexible and creative planning process enabled us to transform our residential trips and quickly adjust to the prevailing Government guidance. This resulted in the limited residential programmes that went ahead this year being extremely successful and well received by students, parents and school staff. We were also able to take our residential experience to the school in 2020, providing a safe, progressive adventure residential programme on site without compromising on the quality or the fun!

Planning for residential trips in 2021

Situated just 10 minutes walk to the beach, the transformation of our outdoor residential centre in Swanage continues and there is still more to be done with the outdoor spaces with plans for the new Target Sport Range, Aeroball and enhanced bushcraft area. The dormitories offer first class en-suite facilities and, including our bungalow, we're able to accommodate up to 133 students and staff on site. Three common rooms allow ample space for students to relax with table football, air hockey and lounging areas and our updated kitchen facilities allow us to supply students with good hearty meals three times a day.

We continually adapt, test, review and innovate, putting us in a strong position to offer our School residentials moving forward into 2021.

Thinking about your school trip?

We're all really looking forward to when school residential trips are allowed once again, in the meantime we can still provide adventure day trips, either at The Cumulus Outdoors Residential Centre or at your school, this is a way in which we can still deliver a great adventure experience in a fun and safe environment. Day trips can include Coasteering, Climbing & Abseiling, Kayaking, Bushcraft, Tag Archery and other adventure activities.

Should you prefer activities at your school and you have adequate space, we can bring Tag Archery, Air Rifle Shooting, Archery, Bushcraft and Team Challenges to you!
