El Puerto is a small city and very safe, meaning it offers teachers peace of mind. It is furthermore famous for its rich history: being the home of sherry, having the widest bull ring in Spain and being the place from where Columbus set sail. In addition to this it is very well connected to beautiful cities and sites in the area, which allows for many great daytime excursions and activities.
Not to mention that Uk schools can fly into several airports, including: Jerez, Gibraltar, Sevilla and Malaga all close by.
Largely undiscovered by foreign tourists, it is the perfect location for school tours due to the authenticity of the area and the variety it offers.

Example Itineraries
All our tours are fully customizable to fit your group needs. Tours can start from 3 days, 2 nights, although we recommend 5 day, 4 night stays as the optimum. Tours usually include language lessons, city trips and cultural activities but which ones and how much is up to you. Tours always include: food, accommodation (residential or family) and a chaperone throughout the trip who also stays in the residence. Each group also has a personal trip coordinator to help you throughout the set up of the trip.
A common itinerary would be as below. Please contact us for the apx quote price as we'd love to help you out.
Day 1 – arrival
Meet and greet by chaperone at airport, transfer to El Puerto de Santa Maria by private coach. Students settle into rooms at Spark residence or families pick students up. BBQ at Spark.
Day 2 – exploring El Puerto + tapas
The day starts with Spanish lessons, followed by a tour of el Puerto where we visit the bullring, the church, market and the Moorish castle. The afternoon is spent at the beach. Evening meal is at local restaurant so students can enjoy eating tapas.
Day 3 – Cádiz
Spanish lessons in the morning, then excursion to Cádiz by ferry, 2nd breakfast: Churros con chocolate and visits to the Torre Tavira and Parque Calderon. Time for shopping and / or beach. Film night in the evening.
Day 4 – flamenco, quiz and cooking
Spanish lessons, followed by trip to local market to pick up ingredients for cooking class. Students then split into 3 group on cycle basis: flamenco lessons, paella cooking class and spanish quiz and postcard activity. Dinner in Spark then awards ceremony and certificates.
Day 5 – Sevilla + departure
Early departure to beautiful Seville: transport by private coach, visits to the Alcázar palace and the Plaza de España. Time for some shopping and strolling along the windy streets of the Barrio Santa Cruz. Coach takes students to the airport for their evening flight home.
All parts of this tour are bespoke. Arrival can be to Jerez, Gibraltar, Sevilla or Malaga and can be combined with city trips on arrival or departure.

Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
We have our own residence which is available in exclusivity for a school party. The town of El Puerto de Santa has a medieval castle and is where Christopher Columbus stayed before setting sail for the new world. The wider province of Cadiz is rich in historical sites, including the city of Cadiz which is the oldest continually occupied city in Europe. The architectural gem of Sevilla is just 1 hour a way and there are romain ruins on edge of El Puerto, in Bolonia and near Sevilla. The area is also rich in sites connected with Moorish Spain and the Spanish reconquista. All our tours are customizable and can include visits with linguistic and / or historical significance.
Spark offers residential accommodation in southern Spain available for schools in exclusivity. Although our main focus is providing linguistic tours, we do cater for tours focus on geography, or more commonly mixed subject tours. Being located in the bay of cadiz and 1 hour from micro climate area which is the wettest in Spain, it is great area for this.
Spanish language tours are our speciality. Other the years we have had hundreds of schools doing tours with us. All tours are run by a native Spanish speaking chaperone who had lots of ideas on how to maximise the children's usage of Spanish on a visit or whilst in the residence. Our classes also prep the students with language to use during their day activities. Our 60 pax residence, available in exclusivity, is an ideal place for children to practice their spanish in a safe setting: be that speaking to our staff during meals or during the classes they have. All tours are bespoke.
What size groups do you cater for?
We are happy to accommodate all group sizes with a minimum size of 8 students. Our residence has a pax of 55 students so we can fit in almost all group sizes.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
We have 2 rooms with disabled capacity and also have a lift between the first and second floor.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
We can cater for most special need children although a school must always send their own suitably qualified and experienced staff with the children.
Anything else?
At Spark we truly love El Puerto and think it´s an absolute gem of a place to learn Spanish. It is a small sized town with kms and kms of fantastic beaches, many excellent tapas bars and just lovely friendly Andalusian feel. It is a close distance to many beautiful places such as Cadiz, Jerez and Seville, and much more! One of the major advantages of studying in El Puerto is that it is a very authentic Spanish town (a favourite for domestic Spanish tourism) and is virtually untouched by the commercial non Spanish tourism that larger cities typically experience. This means that students can practice their Spanish with the locals here, without everybody automatically replying to them in English, which can happen in other places! The experience and quality our language trips offer combined with the beauty, climate, culture and safety of El Puerto make studying with us an experience we are sure all will cherish.

Spark Spanish - School Tour to Spain is a dynamic language academy in El Puerto de Santa María, in the province of Cádiz - a spectacular part of Andalucia. We offer many different bespoke school tour programmes which are planned together with you, to ensure that your time with us allows you and your students to get the most out of the opportunity and that the trip meets your needs and interests. We know how rewarding learning a language can be and we want to do everything we can to assist you and your students on their language journey.

We already have provided tours for over several hundred UK schools, which you can see on our website, so we are well accustomed to their educational and practicial needs of both private and state schools. We provide risk assessments for all areas of our tours.

"This is the second time that I have taken a group of Upper 4 to Spark and I can’t recommend it enough! For us being all in the same building means that students could enjoy being together and sharing dorms whilst us teachers could check on them and could benefit from having spacious rooms with an ensuite bathroom.
Inge’s and Doug’s organisation and hosting was impeccable: they took account of all our students’ medical and dietary requirements, including the last minute ones and they checked in with us on a regular basis.
The beauty of this trip was that we had a local Chaperone available 24/7, who knew the area really well, and that took some pressure off from me as a trip leader. Our Chaperone was also one of the teachers, which meant our students got really attached to him by the end of the stay. They were also motivated to speak in Spanish as much as possible as they knew they would be rewarded with tokens and there would be a prize at the end for the best team.
There was a nice variety of activities: in the morning our pupils had lessons, which meant us teachers were able to relax and explore El Puerto, and in the afternoon we did something different everyday, being it visiting Cádiz, Sevilla or making paella. There was something for everyone!
