Language Trips to Barcelona and the Costa Brava School Trips
PlanMySchoolTrip
Barcelona was one of our original destinations and continues to be popular for educational tours whether it is for Language, History, Food Technology or a cross curricular tour that is just fun.
Over the years we have listened to group leaders to find itineraries that work for school groups.
As ever, the itineraries listed are offered as a guide or to be adopted in full. They are designed to include time for language sessions, as preferred. We will create a tour that is as individual to us as it is to you. If there is another city or destination that interests you but is not listed, please contact us for more information and a tailor-made quote.

Example Itineraries for our 2026 trips
Our carefully designed itineraries typically span three, four, or five days, offering flexibility to suit the specific needs and interests of each group. Should there be particular themes or activities you wish to include, we are happy to adjust your programme accordingly. Below, we present two popular options: one exploring the vibrant city of Barcelona and another taking in the scenic beauty of the nearby Costa Brava. Both are ideal for a school Spanish language learning trip.
In Barcelona the journey begins with an early morning arrival, giving your students the chance to start their immersion into Catalan culture immediately. On the first day, after settling into their accommodation, the group can visit iconic landmarks such as the Camp Nou Football Stadium or the Olympic Stadium. The evening offers a leisurely stroll along the bustling Las Ramblas, where students can practice their language skills by engaging with street vendors, reading signs, and experiencing the lively atmosphere of the city.
The second day could see you exploring Barcelona's historic heart through a guided walking tour of the Gothic Quarter. This area is rich in medieval architecture and narrow winding streets. Being out and about provides your class with another excellent chance to practice vocabulary related to history, architecture, and daily life. Following the tour students could visit La Boqueria market, a lively hub of local produce and culinary delights. In the afternoon, the group visits the breathtaking Sagrada Familia, where they can learn about Gaudi's masterpiece, its architectural style, and the religious significance - all in Spanish of course! The day ends with a visit to the Magic Fountain for a light and music show.
Day three includes more fun, this time at the Museu Xocolata with a chocolate workshop, and plenty of time to learn vocabulary related to ingredients, tastes, and cooking processes. Throughout your Spanish language trip we will include activities that encourage your children to speak Spanish and listening to native speakers. The afternoon is spent at a local theme park.
On the final day in Barcelona you can explore Poble Espanyol, an open air museum of traditional Spanish architecture and crafts. Sadly (because you won't want to leave), the day ends with transfer to the airport and your return journey to the UK.
The Costa Brava itinerary offers a different but equally useful experience, based in charming towns such as Calella, Lloret de Mar, or Tossa de Mar. Travelling by coach, your group will explore this magnificent coastline, combining cultural activities with stunning natural beauty. The first day allows students to settle into their accommodation.
On the second day the group visits Poble Espanyol to explore Spanish architecture and crafts, followed by a trip to Camp Nou stadium. The visit to Museu Xocolata, with its chocolate workshop, is another opportunity for immersive language practice. These activities are designed to enhance vocabulary and speaking skills in a fun way.
Day three is about soaking up local life in Tossa de Mar. More language skills through street questionnaires, shop visits, or engaging with local residents. A visit to the old town to experience the area's historical and cultural heritage, while the afternoon at the beach provides a relaxed end to the day.
The fourth day starts with a visit to the Tossa de Mar market, giving students more chances to use their growing language skills. They can purchase lunch ingredients or souvenirs. The afternoon is spent at a nearby theme park.
The final day provides free time in Tossa de Mar, allowing students to revisit favourite spots or explore more of the town independently. Throughout the trip, the focus remains on providing truly immersive Spanish language practice.
