Example Itineraries for our 2026 trips
- Arrive at the base camp in northern Norway
- Welcome briefing and safety instructions
- Introduction to Arctic environment and glacier travel gear
- Teambuilding activities and orientation walk around the area
Day 2 Glacier Travel and Basic Mountaineering Skills
- Training in glacier navigation, crevasse rescue, and ice axe use
- Practice on nearby glaciers under supervision
- Introduction to environmental science activities such as wildlife and plant surveys
Day 3 Scientific Fieldwork and Exploration
- Conduct glaciology and geology surveys on the ice caps
- Take photographs and document wildlife and plant observations
- Learn about environmental challenges facing the Arctic
Day 4 Mountaineering
- Full day of mountaineering, crossing ice ridges and climbing small peaks
- Navigate through crevassed terrain with guides
- Enjoy panoramic views of the Arctic landscape from the summit
Day 5 Climbing and Departure
- Optional morning climb of a small peak or ice wall for added adventure
- Departure from the base camp, heading home

Who are PlanMySchoolTrip?
The expedition will take place in northern Norway within the Arctic Circle at 70 degrees North. Your students will be trained in glacier travel, mountaineering, radio communications, first aid, and safety procedures. A key focus of the experience is scientific research, including glaciology, geology, wildlife and plant surveys, and environmental projects relating to Arctic ecosystems and climate change.
An Arctic adventure presents unique challenges, offering stunning scenery and the opportunity to navigate peaks and ridges. This expedition programme will develop confidence, teamwork, leadership, and give your students a real spirit of adventure.
