What activities are available during group visits?
Boot camp, archery, forest skills, creative art workshops, map making, guided walks, Tai Chi, and animal encounters.
Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Curriculum topics available: Team building, Personal development and resilience.
Our partners can deliver a number of Team Building activities such as boot camp and forest skills.
For personal development we work with an incredible team at Spirit Forge, who focus on individual's development, and use a variety of techniques to help students work on self development, including martial arts, rap and philosophy.
Curriculum topics available: Logic and Problem Solving.
We are located within easy reach to Bletchley Park. Tickets can be purchased and booked through Bletchley Park direct and learning continued at Chellington just a short coach journey away. We are close to Cambridge Fitzwilliam, Museum of Technology and Whipple Museums
We have a variety of art workshops available: clay modelling, willow weaving, felt making, textiles and painting, using the outside resources around the Centre to create new pieces. All art workshops are taught by professional artists skilled in working with school groups, and who are happy to develop workshops to suit the needs of the school.
Our Forest Skills partner teaches a number of bushcraft skillls including fire building, shelter building, tool creating, nettle weaving, and fairy spirit workshops.
Curriculum topics available: Rivers, Map and atlas, Fieldwork.
We are located on a hill looking over the Great River Ouse; the river is a dominant physical feature of the local area. Pupils can can study the impact of the river flooding, its historical use in the past, the impact of human activity on the river ecosystem and animals it supports.
Curriculum topics available: Settlement and land use, Natural resources.
We have an excellent Map Making partner who can offer 3 different workshops looking at human geography and the local environment.
We have historical documents indicating local, social history back to the bronze age, through the middle ages and Chellington's role as a plague retreat.
What size groups do you cater for?
We are suited for a class of 30 some of our activities are best taught in smaller groups and we look to spilt the group across 2 activities.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Yes, we have the Main Hall and the Ibbett Room; both can be set-up as a classrooms.
Is there first aid on site?
There is always a Centre Manager on-call 24/7 for the duration of your stay who is first aid trained; however it is important to note that we do not man The Centre overnight. All our activity partners are also first aid trained.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes, the Centre has been designed to be accessible throughout; it is all on one level, doors are accessible to wheelchair users and we have an accessible shower and toilet.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes, we have partners who specialise in running activities for children with special needs and our Centre is designed to be accessible and has braille signage.
Anything else?
We run a Chellington Bursary scheme offering financial assistance to groups that need it. Please call for further details on how to apply to help with up to 40% of the accommodation costs of your stay.
