Big School CampActivities are Bushcraft, Outdoor Learning, Life Skills, Team Building themed, First Aid. Experience
delivering basic bushcraft activities such as fire lighting, campfire, putting up tarps is an advantage but it is not essential as full internal training is provided. Team building, life skills and or
navigation skills are also desirable.
• Setting up the camp and activity areas before the camp begins.
• Welcome - Introductions.
• Supervising and helping the children & staff set up their tents.
• Involvement in Four/Five daytime activities with pre-defined learning outcomes, on a
carousel
• Evening activity of Campfire & Hot Chocolate.
• Sleep on School Site if required- (we can provide you with a tent if you wish)
• Depending on experience, training, and operational requirements, staff may remain on
one or two activities all day.
• Supervising and helping the children taking their tents down and closing the camp.
• Make sure all poles and tents are away in correct bags and that all pegs are collected
• Make sure the site is left as we found it
• Repacking the van and departing.
Essential/ Desirable
Qualifications & Skills
• First Aid Qualified
• Current DBS certificate (update service can be used) please provide both
• CV-With Relevant National Governing Body certificates shared with Big School Camp
• Being able to work within a team
• Experience in working with children
• Experience of taking part in, or delivering bushcraft activities
• Comfortable working with large groups of Primary & Secondary school children (activity
ratios are 1:15 and sometimes larger)
• Experience of working with children with additional needs
• Create & maintain safe working environments
• High levels of enthusiasm, creating a fun learning atmosphere on all sessions
• Behavioural management techniques to deliver appropriate and safe activities
• Understand & implement Big School Camp’s pedagogy, delivering this within all sessions
• Use appropriate language at all times with children, school staff & Big School Camp staff
• Arrive on time and be ready to work
• Be able to travel
• Have your own transport with work-use insurance
• Be willing to work conscientiously at all times

34. Other Duties and Responsibilities
• To adapt to changing circumstances
• To run sessions to schedule and to keep to timings
• To protect the physical and emotional wellbeing of participants
• To have read, understood and implement Big School Camps Child Protection & Safeguarding
Documents at all times on camp
• To understand and use the reporting procedures, should you be concerned about the
wellbeing or safety of any students or school staff, including Big School Camp staff.
• To be proactive in supporting the smooth running of the camp
• To be “professional” at all times
• To wear Big School Camp uniform and ID at all times when working on a camp " this will be
provided for you
• To take the highest standards of care with all equipment.
