Phase 1 Outdoor Adventure Residentials

ncs logoThe National Citizen Service (NCS) is a government funded initiative designed to get young adults in England, aged 16-17, involved in a series of challenges, that will help them develop a range of new skills, establish new friendships, and make a contribution to their local communities.

Phase One of the NCS experience is all about bonding as a group, so participants get together to experience a range of outdoor activities during a short residential activity break. If your NCS group is looking for the perfect location for your team building adventure, we can help! We work with a large number of residential centres throughout the UK and Europe, and can provide you with a great range of places to choose from.

Choosing an NCS Activity Centre

Although a nationally conceived scheme, the actual providers are local youth groups such as YMCA centres, English Football League clubs, and a range of county councils. The activity centres on this page all have previous experience in operating the NCS scheme and can deliver a safe, fun and challenging outdoor residential experience for your NCS youth group. The activities available will vary from centre to centre, but whether you end up trying archery, rock climbing, or dinghy sailing, professional qualified instructors will be able to adapt each activity to encourage skills such as teamwork, cooperation, leadership and more.

Usually taking place in the Summer holidays, dates will vary by provider, but as most residential centres are quiet during the school holidays, availability is not usually too much of a problem. We would recommend that NCS groups make sure they secure their booking at the earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment. Certainly make sure you are researching which activity centres would be suitable for your group well in advance of the summer. Schools generally book up to a year in advance, and although you may not have to compete as much for availability, it is still advisable to get booked early. If you cannot find anything local to you, please use the short enquiry form above or check out our main residential activity centre page, which has many more centres the length and breadth of the country!
