NEW Workshops Onsite and Online
The Drama HutThe Drama Hut are excited to be bringing fun, educational workshops back to schools this autumn, supporting children in their development, learning and wellbeing. Here they tell us about how they have adapted to the pandemic, making sessions accessible both onsite and online.
Ensuring children stay connected and creative
We recognised early on during lockdown, the pressure both schools and parents were under and worked with our team of professional actors to adapt and revise our workshops, making them live, interactive and available from home. The response we had was phenomenal with some parents citing us as "the highlight of their lockdown". Now children are back in school, we have been able to transfer this fun, interactive experience directly to school halls and classrooms, with terrific response.
"We thought the online workshop worked really well and the technology ran smoothly. The interactive-ness with the students getting them to repeat dates, learn the poem and act out meant they were always engaged with Rosa. One student said "I feel like I really know the whole of Rosa Parks life now, it was like the real Rosa telling us her story". Furness School, Brent, September 2020
Why choose an online workshop
With changing guidelines, booking online workshops for year groups or classroom bubbles, allows teachers peace of mind when planning ahead ensuring children are able to participate in workshops relating to their topics this term. Our sessions are delivered by professional actors, are live, fully interactive and educational. We communicate clearly with schools and can adapt to any sudden changes. With movement around schools being restricted, we can be present on screen, via the internet in classrooms as well as school halls and the use of technology also has the advantage of allowing the inclusion of any children having to self-isolate at home.
With many schools having booked our online option this term already and visits well underway, we are glad to report that these adapted sessions are working well, within the necessary restrictions that COVID presents - all new measures required to deliver sessions safely online are detailed in our risk assessment which is available upon request.
New workshops
We are continually developing new sessions based on feedback and a changing educational landscape. Our latest workshops are part of a new series of sessions celebrating extraordinary lives and include Rosa Parks and some great explorers, led by Amelia Earhart. The first explores Civil Rights and would tie in well with Black History Month this October. The second covers a timeline of adventurers and works well for cross curriculum learning. Both can be delivered onsite and online.
Why choose The Drama Hut
We are passionate about the role drama has to play in education and have been providing workshops in schools led by professional, dedicated actors since 2012. Our feedback is consistently outstanding, both for content and delivery and our friendly, approachable communication is often commented upon.
We fully recognise the enormous pressure schools are under during this period of uncertainty and are offering all schools the option to re-schedule or refund if your visit can't go ahead because of COVID-19. This is detailed in our updated cancellation policy available upon request.

NEW Extra-Curriculum Clubs
With the provision of extra curriculum clubs severely affected by COVID, The Drama Hut are launching a brand new after school/ lunchtime online history club.
Using drama games, role play, movement and improvisation and modelled on our curriculum-based workshops, each term (6 weeks) children aged 6-10 yrs old will have the opportunity to dig a little deeper into a topic from the primary curriculum, in a creative and interactive way.
Using Zoom, clubs can be run from school premises after school or during lunchtime, with a member of school staff to oversee. In the event of another lockdown children would also have the opportunity to take part from home.
Starting from the first week back after half term, week commencing 2nd November - December 8th, we have two differently themed clubs to offer
Cost options
Clubs can be fully or partially funded by the school. Alternatively, The Drama Hut are able to invoice parents directly for club registration, so no direct costs are incurred by the school. For more information relating to costs please get in touch with us.
