A Day at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World
Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World'As a busy primary school teacher, I'm always looking for affordable ways to enrich the curriculum and take learning off the page!
After a recent visit to Hoo Zoo with my family, I was blown away by the endless learning opportunities it had to offer in a safe and local environment and couldn't wait to book a visit for my school!
With over 100 species of animal including reptiles, mammals and birds, teachers will find it easy to bring science learning to life. Whether that is through animal classification for Year 2, or keeper talks discussing invertebrates and vertebrates for year 3, the children will come away with a deeper level of learning.
In the Ice Age and Prehistoric areas, children can once again classify based on diet, or simply discover how Dinosaurs and mammals evolved during this time.
More recently the zoo have added opportunities for children to learn about fossils which is a lovely enhancement to any Year 3 Rocks and Soils topics!
With plenty of space to spread out and explore, basic map reading skills could be a team building exercise for older years or a lovely opportunity to create a scavenger hunt to collect information and use when back at school!
The Zoo has both indoor and outdoor lunch spaces, along with toilets situated around the venue.
Every child is important at Hoo Zoo and the needs of each child is paramount to the visit so if you have any special requirements or requests they will always do their best to accommodate them.
From your first inquiry to the moment you depart, their team will guide you through all the details. They will provide risk assessments, and even the option for a site visit ahead of your trip, ensuring you feel fully prepared and confident about your visit.
Hoo Zoo is located in Telford in Shropshire which is within an hour of Birmingham and Stafford'.
