World War One will forever be etched into the culture of our nation and many others. However, how do you engage students and help them to truly understand the true extent of this tragedy, an event which started over 100 years ago? Adaptable Travel understand this, and as such as have developed a range of initiatives to accompany our bespoke school trips to Ypres and Somme including our innovative ‘Project Battlefields’ student and teacher resources which will be of great asset both whilst on your school trip and back in the classroom. Furthermore, we offer the option to have one of our battlefield guides accompany you on your tour. Exploring Ypres and the Somme are impacting visits. Adaptable Travel create itineraries that are sensitive to the subject in hand, whilst offering a unique opportunity to explore and understand the events of World War One, combining real-life excursions with expert guides and our fantastic Project Battlefields student and teacher resources.

Suggested 3 day tour of Belgium Battlefields:
• Depart UK early morning by coach and ferry
• Arrive in Ypres for a guided tour of the battlefield sites (Menin Gate, Essex Farm, Tyne Cot Cemetary) rounded off with a visit to Hill 60 and Sanctuary Wood Museum
• Early evening visit to the Menin Gate for the Last Post Ceremony
• Arrive at your accommodation

• Breakfast at accommodation
• Morning exploration of Ypres (In Flanders Museum)
• Afternoon of The Somme battlefield sites (Thiepval Memorial, Newfoundland Park and Musee Somme 1916)
• Evening meal at accommodation
• Optional ten-pin bowling

We have created our itineraries based on recommendation from our expert guides, in conjunction with what has worked for our groups for years. However, your group is unique to us, and as such we aim to make each and every itinerary and tour bespoke to the needs of your school. We operate bespoke itineraries for 1-5 days WW1 Battlefield trips. All itineraries are provisional guides and can be tailored to your specific needs.
