At Battlefield and History Tours, we are committed to providing a deeply educational and meaningful experience for students learning about history during their overseas trip to Krakow. Here’s how we ensure a rich educational journey:
Expert-Led Tours: Our tours are conducted by experts who specialize in Krakow’s WWII history and the Holocaust. These guides provide detailed narratives, bringing historical events to life through stories, facts, and insights that textbooks cannot convey, ensuring students gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
Immersive Site Visits: We include visits to significant historical sites such as Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Galicia Jewish Museum, and Oskar Schindler's Factory. These sites offer students tangible connections to history, allowing them to see and feel the places where pivotal events occurred, enhancing their understanding and empathy for the people involved.
Interactive Learning: Beyond traditional tours, we incorporate interactive sessions where possible, including discussions with Holocaust survivors at the Galicia Jewish Museum. This provides a unique opportunity for students to engage with living history and gain personal insights into the events being studied.
Customizable Itineraries: Understanding that each school group has unique educational objectives, we tailor our tours to meet your specific curriculum needs. Whether focusing on the Holocaust, Jewish history, or WWII more broadly, we adapt our itineraries to support your learning goals.
Educational Materials: To supplement the learning experience, we provide educational materials that are designed to prepare students for their visit, enrich their on-site learning, and facilitate reflection and discussion afterward. These resources help to contextualize the historical sites and ensure that the learning objectives are met.
Reflection and Discussion: We allocate time for students to reflect on their experiences and discuss what they have learned. This could be through guided discussions, journaling, or debrief sessions, which help to consolidate their understanding and encourage them to consider the implications of history on the present and future.
Inclusive Learning Environment: We strive to make our tours accessible and engaging for all students, including those with disabilities or special educational needs (SEN). By addressing these needs from the planning stages, we ensure that every student can fully participate in and benefit from the educational experience.
Supporting the Curriculum: Our tours are designed not just as standalone experiences but as integral parts of the educational curriculum. By connecting the experiences back to the classroom learning, we help to deepen students' overall understanding of history and its relevance today.
Through these approaches, we aim to provide students with a memorable and impactful learning experience that not only educates them about the historical events but also fosters a deeper understanding of their significance and the importance of remembering the past.

Battlefield and History Tours is a highly specialized division operating both independently and as an integral part of Rondo Travel. The current Director overseeing this division boasts over 15 years of dedicated expertise in the field. Our tours are exclusively centered on historical themes, with many of them accompanied by knowledgeable guides who travel with the group.
We have the capacity to tailor our offerings to any destination of your choice, and our team of specialists can assist with extensive research, if needed. Our tours encompass a wide range of historical topics, including but not limited to Holocaust survivor talks, Last Post Ceremonies, visits to concentration camps, and opportunities for dressing up and re-enactments.
One of our prime tour destinations is Krakow, the historical capital of Poland situated in the southern region. Remarkably, Krakow managed to evade widespread destruction during World War II, making it an ideal locale for in-depth exploration of WWII and the Holocaust. Krakow's history is intertwined with a thriving Jewish community that was tragically decimated during the Holocaust. Today, remnants of this history can be experienced through visits to the Jewish Quarter, synagogues, the Jewish Cemetery, and the Jewish Museum. Furthermore, our tours offer the opportunity to explore iconic landmarks such as Wawel Castle, Cloth Hall, the Barbican, and the Medieval City Walls. Additionally, we facilitate visits to Auschwitz Birkenau and the Wieliczka Salt Mine, both located in close proximity to Krakow. For those interested, a day trip to Warsaw is also an option, accessible by train or coach.
While we recommend visiting destinations such as Kraków, Warsaw, and Gdańsk in Poland, we are fully equipped to craft customized tours to any location within Poland to meet your specific preferences and requirements.
Poland holds a pivotal place on the itinerary for students and enthusiasts of Second World War history, the Holocaust, and history in general.
Auschwitz and Birkenau, concentration and extermination camps established and operated by Nazi Germany during World War II, are profoundly impactful sites that leave an indelible mark on visitors. Our tours encompass both Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, with English-speaking guides accompanying your group.
Auschwitz I was initially constructed to detain Polish political prisoners, who began arriving in May 1940. The first instances of prisoner extermination occurred in September 1941.
Auschwitz II–Birkenau played a pivotal role in the mass extermination of Jews during the Holocaust. Transport trains delivered countless Jews to the gas chambers, where they met their tragic fate en masse.
For those who have previously visited the House of the Wannsee Conference in Berlin, touring Auschwitz will underscore the enormity of the decisions made in that picturesque setting.
