Who are Battlefield and History Tours?
Battlefield and History Tours is a highly specialized division operating both independently and as an integral part of Rondo Travel. The current Director overseeing this division boasts over 15 years of dedicated expertise in the field. Our tours are exclusively centered on historical themes, with many of them accompanied by knowledgeable guides who travel with the group.
We have the capacity to tailor our offerings to any destination of your choice, and our team of specialists can assist with extensive research, if needed. Our tours encompass a wide range of historical topics, including but not limited to Holocaust survivor talks, Last Post Ceremonies, visits to concentration camps, and opportunities for dressing up and re-enactments.
One of our prime tour destinations is Krakow, the historical capital of Poland situated in the southern region. Remarkably, Krakow managed to evade widespread destruction during World War II, making it an ideal locale for in-depth exploration of WWII and the Holocaust. Krakow's history is intertwined with a thriving Jewish community that was tragically decimated during the Holocaust. Today, remnants of this history can be experienced through visits to the Jewish Quarter, synagogues, the Jewish Cemetery, and the Jewish Museum. Furthermore, our tours offer the opportunity to explore iconic landmarks such as Wawel Castle, Cloth Hall, the Barbican, and the Medieval City Walls. Additionally, we facilitate visits to Auschwitz Birkenau and the Wieliczka Salt Mine, both located in close proximity to Krakow. For those interested, a day trip to Warsaw is also an option, accessible by train or coach.
While we recommend visiting destinations such as Kraków, Warsaw, and Gdańsk in Poland, we are fully equipped to craft customized tours to any location within Poland to meet your specific preferences and requirements.
Poland holds a pivotal place on the itinerary for students and enthusiasts of Second World War history, the Holocaust, and history in general.
Auschwitz and Birkenau, concentration and extermination camps established and operated by Nazi Germany during World War II, are profoundly impactful sites that leave an indelible mark on visitors. Our tours encompass both Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, with English-speaking guides accompanying your group.
Auschwitz I was initially constructed to detain Polish political prisoners, who began arriving in May 1940. The first instances of prisoner extermination occurred in September 1941.
Auschwitz II–Birkenau played a pivotal role in the mass extermination of Jews during the Holocaust. Transport trains delivered countless Jews to the gas chambers, where they met their tragic fate en masse.
For those who have previously visited the House of the Wannsee Conference in Berlin, touring Auschwitz will underscore the enormity of the decisions made in that picturesque setting.
