Sample Iceland 4 day tour
Price from £645 per student based on 40+4

Day 1
• Arrival Flights
• Welcome at the airport from your Arctic Education representative who will be with the group 24/7 for the duration of the trip
• Airport Transfer to Hotel Ork Hveragerði
• Walking tour to Geothermal Park, Hveragerði, The local geothermal area – it is possible to boil eggs in the water and to try Rye break baked using the heat of the ground. The guided tour of the park shows the various uses of geothermal activity
• Dinner at Hotel
• Pool open until 2200 feature year-round 2 hot tubs (38-40c and 40-42c, a large swimming pool kept around 30c with 2 * water slides (open depending on weather) and a geothermal steam bath. The hotel also has a games room with pool table, table tennis and table football as well as chess and some other games.
• Night in hotel in male/female rooms sharing 3 or 4 per room and twin rooms for teachers

Day 2 / History and geography - Golden Circle Day Tour with Guide
• Hotel Hotel Ork in Hveragerði
• Breakfast
• Departure from Hotel Ork in Hveragerði
• Arrive at Þingvellir National Park, walking around, Oxarárfoss waterfall. The National park is home to the World’s first parliament – 930AD and includes another meeting of the North American and Eurasian plates – this time forming Silfra a fissure filled with crystal clear glacial run off water (it is possible to add Snorkelling here for groups minimum 14 years and 150cm/45kg) The National park offers opportunity to learn about geology with the plates as will as history and culture with the parliament and passing Icelands’s Law rock where capital punishments was passed.
• Departure from Þingvellir
• Arrive at Geysir Geothermal Area, Lunch break. The Geysir area, from which English gets the word geyser features the now inactive great Geysir as well as Strokkur which now spots every 5-7 minutes.
• Departure from Geysir
• Arrive at Gullfoss waterfall – a powerful tiered waterfall averages 140 m3/s flow rate in summer. There is an upper and lower viewing platform for best views.
• Departure from Gullfoss
• Arrive at Faxi waterfall – at 80 metres wide and 10 metres high, Faxi is an easily accessible break stop that doesn’t get as crowded as other Golden Circle stops. There is a Salmon ladder to the side and the area is popular for salmon fishing

• Arrive at Hotel Ork in Hveragerði
• Dinner, opportunity to use the games rooms and pools

Day 3 / Geography and science - South Shore Day Tour w/guide
• Breakfast
• Departure from the Hotel Ork in Hveragerði
• Arrive at Seljalandsfoss waterfall – a popular waterfall with a single 60m drop – it is possible to walk behind the waterfall in summer
• Departure from Seljalandsfoss
• Arrive at Skógafoss waterfall, with an impressive 60m drop Skógafoss is one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls. There is a staircase to a viewing platform overlooking the falls comprising 420 steps to the top for a spectacular view.
• Departure from Skógafoss
• Arrival Reynisfjara – black sand beach with basalt columns. This striking beach has been ranked amongst the top 10 most beautiful non-tropical beaches and the basalt columns offer opportunity to learn about columnar jointing 15:30
• Dinner, opportunity to use the games rooms and pools
Add on Day 3: Arrive at Sólheimajökull Glacier– probably the most popular school group activity we offer in Iceland – not only is their chance to walk on an ice cap but also to see markers placed showing the retreat of the Icecap over the last years and learn more about glacial movement.

• Airport transfer no guide

• Departure from the Hotel Ork in Hveragerði / time subject to flights
• Arrive at Keflavík airport
• Departure Flights
Add on Day 4: subject to flight times: Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa – certainly one of Iceland’s top tourist attractions and an true example of Iceland’s sustainable culture the Blue lagoon uses the clean run off from a power plant to create an iconic spa experience. Relax in the warm water, try the geothermal steam bath and enjoy a complementary silica face mask.
