We can tailor make a tour specific to the learning needs of your group, or students can follow a sample itinerary. This tour includes historical sites such as Thiepval Memorial, In Flanders Fields Museum, Memorial Museum Passchendaele, as well as Menin Gate where the Last Post commemorates those who fell in the war every evening. Each school will have a different preference for how they want to run this trip. Whether you just want to visit as many sites as possible, or you want to follow a particular regiment, or even an individual soldier or civilian, your students can choose how they want to engage in the variety of stories here.

Thiepval Memorial
This moving war memorial commemorates missing British and South African men who died in the Battles of the Somme between 1915 and 1918.
Menin Gate & the Last Post
Groups can see the moving ceremony of the Last Post at the Menin Gate. The traditional final salute to the fallen is played in honour of the fallen soldiers, whose names are inscribed on the famous memorial.
In Flanders Fields Museum
Explore the devastating events that occurred in the Flanders region during the Great War. From the invasion of Belgium, to the trenches and the aftermath of the war, students can learn about the human experiences involved.
Langemark Cemetery
An important aspect for students to discover is the other side of the conflict - the German soldeir's experiences. This cemetery holds the remains of over 40,000 German soldiers who dies in October 1914.

Which Curriculum Subjects do we cater for?
History
The regions of Ypres and Somme are steeped in history from the First World War, featuring many sites that contain the scars and remnants from fierce battles and tactical outposts, as well as an abundance of memorials and cemeteries. As your students tour around the regions, you will follow in the footsteps of soldiers and gain a deeper understanding of how the war developed and shifted over the years. We'll guide you through the various stories, introduce you to tour guides, and make sure that your students understand the significance of each location.

What size groups do we cater for?
We have a minimum number of 10 paying passengers but no upper limit. We can split large groups across multiple coaches and hotels as required, with larger benefitting from additional free supervisory places.

Who are Equity – The School Travel People?
At Equity we deliver specialist educational tours, music and performing arts experiences, ski trips and sports tours. Our aim is to support teachers to motivate and engage their pupils through active learning outside the classroom. By providing great learning experiences our trips will inspire students at school and in everyday life.
For over 90 years we've been working alongside teachers to enhance the lives of young people with life-changing trips. Learning is at the heart of our company. Every tour is developed with this aspect as its core, whether it's a performing arts trip to New York, a geography trip to Iceland, or a Battlefields tour to France.
Our goal is to empower students to develop an active interest in their school subjects. Examining artillery at the museums, walking through the trenches and reflecting on the lives lost at the war memorials is an experience students will never forget, and cannot be felt when learning about this subject matter in the classroom.
