Set predominantly in the awe-inspiring Himalayan mountain range, Nepal is a magical land full of majestic old temples and colourful cities. Despite its rich trade history with India to the south and China to the north, the people of Nepal have kept their rich culture and the city of Kathmandu now boasts a uniquely tranquil environment around its edges but maintaining a hectic urban centre typical of an Asian city.
In April of 2015, Nepal suffered a catastrophic earthquake which affected the entire region, destroyed many old buildings and temples as well as affecting the lives of millions of people. The country has since been deemed safe to visit and, through the sheer resilience of its people, is now bouncing back and rebuilding. A vast majority of the country’s schools were severely affected and now the education system for an entire generation of children is stretched. Despite this, the people still welcome any help that is available and now is a perfect time to volunteer in Nepal and make a big difference in the local communities.
Your students will gain a wealth of knowledge and new skills that can’t be taught in the classroom; these can only be experienced and admired from being fully immersed in a new culture and environment. Each trip is customised and tailored to the needs of your group, so whether you want to combine certain projects or you want to include some more travelling, we will do everything possible to make this happen. With 25 years of experience behind us, Projects Abroad ensures that not only will your group have a worthwhile and fulfilling experience, but you’ll always be safe and supported throughout your trip, and you’ll return with memories that will last a lifetime.
