School Trips - Care Volunteering in Ghana
Since 1998, Projects Abroad has been sending volunteers to the intensely colourful land of Ghana. This former British colony is renowned for the friendliness and warmth of its people, as well as its great beaches, wild savannah and dense rainforests. It is English-speaking and provides your group with a wonderful introduction to Africa; it is politically-stable, safe, affordable and rewarding to visit. In recent times it has attracted new money and many Ghanaians are now returning home from abroad, bringing new investment and ideas with them.
However despite this, Ghana remains a poor country and appreciates any outside help, particularly for its children. The country’s social welfare services are overstretched and many of its care-centres have such a large number of children that the staff struggle to feed, clothe and educate the children in their care. As a group you will be involved in various mind-stimulating games and educational activities, all of which will provide the children with the individual attention and emotional support that they need to enjoy a normal childhood. You will also help with various tasks of running and improving the centre to aid the staff and to make the environment better for the children that will use it for years to come.
Why should you consider Projects Abroad for School Trips and Educational Visits?
Your students will gain a wealth of knowledge and new skills that can’t be taught in the classroom; these can only be experienced and admired from being fully immersed in a new culture and environment. Each trip is customised and tailored to the needs of your group, so whether you want to combine certain projects or you want to include some more travelling, we will do everything possible to make this happen. With 25 years of experience behind us, Projects Abroad ensures that not only will your group have a worthwhile and fulfilling experience, but you’ll always be safe and supported throughout your trip, and you’ll return with memories that will last a lifetime.
