Why should you consider Bay of Naples & Sorrento with Equity with Equity – The School Travel People for
your next School Trip or Educational Visit?
Featuring an iconic volcano, world-famous archaeological sites, and a culture and climate that are perfect for a holiday, it's no wonder that the Bay of Naples is a popular destination for a Geography or Classics tour. Your students will be able to take a walk around the rim of Mount Vesuvius, giving them a unique sense of scale of how big this volcano is, and the immense power that it must have had when it erupted in 79AD.
Around the base of the volcano, you'll be able to explore both the sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, some of the best preserved Roman cities found anywhere in the world. Buried by ash and featuring preserved frescos, unique human remains, and plastered voids, as well as an entire city and all of its landmarks, these will provide a unique classical background to your geography trip. From here, you'll get a true sense of the scale of the eruption, and how the events of the eruption unfolded over time.
As you tour around the surrounding bay, you'll be able to discuss factors of human geography and tour coastal landforms while visiting the beautiful tourist spots of Sorrento, the Amalfi coast, and the Isle of Capri. You'll also be able to visit museums in Naples, study geohazards, and learn about how the region is preparing for the eventual scenario of Mount Vesuvius or Campi Flegrei.
We work with local tour guides and reputable suppliers to ensure your trip runs smoothly and everyone has a great time. We can also tailor your trip to suit your specific needs, including curriculum links, dietary requirements, and a variety of audited accommodation options.
If you're interested in a Food Tech trip around the region, you'll be able to enjoy a large variety of culinary workshops, tasting sessions, and farm and factory tours. Sampling some of the best and freshest food in the bay, you'll learn about the traditional methods that are used to make Napoli pizza, pasta, limoncello, honey, ice cream, mozzarella, olive oil and much more.

Mount Vesuvius provides a brilliant opportunity for students interested in Geology to see the power that the earth can produce in a relatively short period of time. Further around the bay, you'll also have the opportunity to study additional active craters and fumaroles of the much larger, Campi Flegrei supervolcano. Whether it's the boiling mud baths and sulphurous gas emitted from the Solfatara crater, or the evidence for isostatic sea level change at the Macellum Temple of Serapis, you'll find plenty of case studies here for Geologists to study and learn about.
