School Camps with The Outdoors People
School Trips @ The Outdoors People
We bring the very best school camps to you...
Getting your school camp just right can be hard, but we can make it easy. Perfect for primary schools, we bring our stunning school camp to the grounds of your school.
By running a high-quality, accredited school camp within the grounds of your school, providing outstanding instructors and laying on the most engaging activities, we can give you and your students adventure experiences to last a lifetime.
We pitch our activities according to the age of the children and we structure our camp programmes with built-in flexibility and down-time so that the students and the school staff have time to enjoy the camping experience.
Why are The Outdoors People great for School Trips and Educational Visits?
We work with you to design a programme perfect for your needs
Our Classic Camp programme is a complete 24-hour residential experience, all delivered in the grounds of your school. From the moment we start, we are helping your students develop their life-skills and self-sufficiency as they work in teams to pitch their giant tents. The evening is time for run-around games with our giant Kin Ball followed by the all-important songs, marshmallows, and stories around a blazing campfire.
During the day, the students take part in a rotation of our engaging and educational activities, making fires, using Stone Age tools, eating bugs and many more options.
Because we come to you, most of the costs and hard work associated with a school residential are immediately minimised. With prices starting at just £40 per person in summer and even less in winter, our school camp programmes cost much less than a residential experience and there's no need to arrange transport.
What activities are available during group visits?
Our accredited educational activities include:
Bug-Buns and Blazes!
One of our three core activities taken to most of our camps and popular with both the children and the camera person! The children learn the building blocks of fire and all try out simple firelighting techniques before taking on the bushtucker challenge!
Life Skills and Team Building
Designed to foster co-operation, communication, planning and initiative. Our unique and stand-out life skills challenges will stretch and develop every team.
Another of our core bushcraft activities. The children work in pairs to build a purifying filter able to take on the muddiest water The Outdoors People can make. They'll learn about the three things that can make water unsafe and how to remove them and get that important cup of hot chocolate at the end of it all!
Crash and Carry
The last of our three core bushcraft activities. A survival journey with the children learning age-appropriate first aid, building and using a stretcher, and constructing shelters while they await rescue from the jungle!
Pendants and Pump Drills
Using ancient tools, students will learn how to drill and personalise their own stone Survival Pendant and braid a cord for it that doubles as a useful tool in emergencies!
Other options include traditional firelighting skills, bush-baking, natural navigation, survival bracelets, land art, archery, and camp-cooking. Our amazing team of instructors have a huge variety of skills and knowledge so if you have an idea for a session you'd really like to do then we can probably design it for you!
What size groups do you cater for?
Our outstanding camps are available for groups of up to 150
Is there first aid on site?
All of our staff hold current 16 hour first aid certificates and we can provide a qualified Night Watch person who remains awake all night if you'd like. Most importantly, you have the peace of mind that comes from knowing your students are on your own site and that you are covered by your own procedures.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Because our camps take place in your school grounds, we are exceptionally well equipped to cope with a variety of physical or educational needs within an adventure education setting. Our tents are huge and can easily be accessed by individuals with limited mobility and all of our activities can be adapted to suit a huge variety of requirements. For children with complex care requirements, we are in the unique situation where it is possible for them to go home overnight without this having as major an impact on their ability to participate in their residential.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Because we operate from your site, we are uniquely suited to accommodating any additional needs your pupils may have. For many young people with Special Educational Needs, a lot of the challenges of a residential experience are minimised or removed as they are in an environment they are familiar with and have the safety net of being able to easily go home if they need.

Prices from just £34 per child!
Our Winter Camps allow us to to provide our outstanding in-school residentials throughout the school year.
Our 23 hour Winter Camps are available from December to March. We deliver our accredited educational activities in our cosy canvas bell tents and run activities involving all of our campers - like that all-important campfire! - in our giant eight metre tent. We heat all of our tents with traditional wood-burning stoves and take advantage of your school buildings to allow the children to “camp” inside the school, as well as using your school hall for some of our larger and more energetic activities.
“Thank you for allowing our children to experience something so different. They really had a brilliant time and the feedback from children and their parents has been nothing but positive.”
