Why book
'Madame Tussauds London' with Merlin Entertainments for School Trips and Educational Visits?
We appreciate the importance of educating children to protect their online identities and well-being, to support them in identifying ‘fake news’ and in improving their general digital and media literacy. Madame Tussauds London provides an inspirational and innovative way of approaching this topic by providing a two-fold opportunity for children to explore:
i. the representation of celebrity in our media and our reactions to these representations.
ii. the way people interact with celebrity culture and the modern media (e.g. the Selfie, Snapchat, Instragram and YouTube Vlogging generation).
The learning begins in your own classroom with our free to download pre- and post-visit lesson plans. Offering three hour-long lessons, students will explore what we mean by the term 'bias', differentiate between 'lies and the truth and look at the positive and negative impacts of modern media.

What activities are available during group visits?
In addition to our free lesson plans, our popular KS2/KS3 Media & Fake News workshop will be returning in the Spring Term, it require students to work together in groups to categorise news stories according to different criteria, including: how the news was shared; who wrote it; text and images; and the emotive impact on the reader.
Students will have the chance to learn about various types of journalism and media and their purposes. They will also analyse how the media presents information and uses language to convey meaning. Additionally, students will explore the concept of 'fake news' and why it is crucial to be aware of it. Finally, they will examine persuasive writing and how it can be used to influence a narrative.
Curriculum topics available: Mental health and awareness.
The goal of this experience is to help students gain a better understanding of how media can influence people's identity through the representation of individuals. Additionally, it will touch upon media-related issues such as the spread of false information and its potential impact on the self-esteem of both public figures and ordinary citizens. Through this experience, students will develop their critical thinking skills and become more aware of online safety.
We offer assistance to students in exploring various career paths available to them and the different skills required to pursue those roles. Our aim is to inspire students by showcasing industries that offer diverse job roles, such as the careers of celebrities and staff members in our attractions. This way, they will be able to gain a holistic understanding of how businesses function.
