Moving Mountains
School Trips
Home / Residentials South West / Bristol
At Moving Mountains we have a passion for getting young people outdoors. Whether that is for an hour of "Muddy Mondays" or a week long "Summer Camp", we can tailor our services to your needs. Based just off the M4/M5, we are easy to get to from London, Exeter, Birmingham and Cardiff.
Our methods focus upon developing resilience and learning-by-doing!
Directors Dan and Jodi have over 20 years experience of outdoor learning and camping with groups of young people and are happy to talk through any ideas you have!
Why book Moving Mountains - Moving Mountains workshop for your school?
At Moving Mountains we focus on the development of key skills such as teamwork, communication, resilience and leadership through outdoor learning. While the students think they are building a fire, they are actually learning to work together, prioritise tasks, learn from mistakes and try something new!
Our flexible pricing structure means that if you are trying to keep down costs, we can provide you with the accommodation and catering, and you can arrange the rest! This way, you have maximum control over the activities and day trips you provide your students.
What activities are available during group visits?
Residentials
Students of all ages are welcome to immerse themselves in the outdoors at Moving Mountains Basecamp in our private tented village. As the only group on site, you have our undivided attention! On site you can enjoy traditional Bushcraft activities, campfire cooking, archery, orienteering and nature trails as well as fishing, golf and footgolf thanks to our partnership with our neighbours Windmill Leisure. Off site, we are next door to Bristol and Bath, offering attractions such as Bath Abbey, we the curious (@Bristol), SS Great Britain and the Roman Baths. Our residential structure means that you can choose to spend all of your time on site with our activities, or arrange your own, or a mixture of the two!
Catering is done on site, by our team, and you choose your meals from a range of options! Cooked from scratch, using fresh ingredients! YUM!
Workshops (Bushcraft, Archery, Navigation)

Residentials: We can accomodate up to 40 students in our 10 man traditional tents, and 8 - 10 teachers in 2 man tents.
Workshops: from 10 to 100 students!
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Yes! Our site includes our "Mess Hall" which has seating for 50 people - a great outdoor classroom. This can be equipped with a projector if needed.
Is there first aid on site?
Yes! All of our staff have a minimum of First Response First Aid Training.
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes! Our toilets and showers are hired from an external contractor, therefore any additional facilities needed can be hired in. There are no parts of our site that require the use of steps, but an "off road" wheelchair is recommended.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes! Our site is PERFECT for children with special educational needs as you have EXCLUSIVE use of the site. No other groups will be staying with you, or even near you!
Anything else?
As an independant company we value the relationships we build with the schools we partner with, and look forward to hearing from you!
We are currently going through the process of receiving accreditation from the Institute of Outdoor Learning.
