We have a whole range of options to suit all needs. We have tailored offerings for EYFS to Key Stage 4, programmes that take a "generalist" approach to maths (such as The Pirate's Challenge) and workshops that focus particularly on specific areas of the curriculum (including CSI: Bake Off). We can work with an entire three-form entry primary school or a whole five-form secondary school year group in just one day - or offer intensive support to a single cohort. And the high level of engagement we induce is complemented by the excellent classroom management skills of all our practitioners (all of whom have enhanced DBS clearance). We also make life easy for the schools we work with, supplying bespoke timetables and suggestions for exciting follow-up activities.
CSI: Maths workshops include: CSI: Storyland, CSI: Michaela Maths, CSI: Bake Off, CSI: Tunes, CSI: Ancient Greek Maths, CSI: Saxon Maths.
Our Pirate Maths workshops include: The Pirate's Challenge, Captain Morgan and the Maths Monster, The Captains Conundrum.
Our Maths workshops for large groups include: The Race into Space, Murderous Maths.
Other Maths workshops include: Outdoor Maths, Family Maths and Creative Maths CPD for teachers.
Some of our workshops cater for 30 pupils at a time and last around 1 hour. We also have a range of workshops that cater for up to 60 pupils at a time. In addition our Race into Space workshop can cater for up to 420 pupils in a single day! Please enquire for more information.
All of our programmes can be easily adapted to meet the needs of pupils with access needs related to mobility. Where we are aware that we will be working with children with visual impairments, we are happy to provide schools with our resources in advance, so that they can be rendered accessible. We know that some schools use sign language interpreters for children with hearing impairments - and all of our practitioners are used to working in this way.
We have huge experience of working with pupils with special educational needs - in both mainstream and special schools - and work with teachers and other professionals to select (and, if appropriate, adapt) the best programme to meet the needs of those pupils.
as creatives is one of the leading providers of Creative Learning to schools across the UK and beyond. We have worked with over 1 million children and young people over the last ten years - and over 400,000 children and young people have taken part in one of our Creative Maths workshops! You can read lots of testimonials from teachers on our website, along with case studies and examples of our work. We would love to hear from you!
"It was by far our most popular event during maths week. The students enjoyed the competitiveness of the trading game, it was great for their group and negotiating skills. The delivery and hosting of the activity was superb!” (Maths Teacher, Langholm Academy)
“All the pupils from Nursery to Year 6 enjoyed exploring how much fun Maths can be outdoors – and your after school family outdoor maths activity was a great way to engage parents and carers. Would definitely book again. Thank you.” (Maths Teacher, Kirkdale St Lawrence C of E Primary School)
"Thank you very much for our pirate day today! It was fantastic and the children absolutely loved it, as well as learning lots from their maths problems!” (Maths Co-ordinator, Kingsway Primary School)
as creatives' programmes are all rigorously designed with the National Curriculum and Curriculum for Excellence in mind, with differentiation at the forefront of our thinking. We consciously provide pupils with opportunities to use and gain fluency in the language of maths, to develop reasoning skills and, crucially in today's climate, to explore problem solving processes and gain the ability to transfer knowledge and skills from one context to another. We recognise that enjoyment and engagement go hand in hand. We know, too, though, that "fun" is not enough in its own right - which is why elements of all of our programmes are deliberately challenging.
We believe that mathematics is an inherently creative discipline - and that providing children, young people and teachers with opportunities to use their own creativity embeds existing knowledge, deepens understanding, improves confidence and increases engagement. And all while having fun!
