'Kingswood - Colomendy' with Kingswood for Residential School Trips and Educational Visits?
Kingswood has been delivering award-winning outdoor adventure learning trips for 40 years, engaging with the latest pedagogic research to design curriculum-linked programmes that develop confidence, resilience and learning ability.
Head to North Wales for an immersive outdoor learning adventure that offers water sports, caving, woodland exploration and an adrenaline-filled adventure park set across 130 acres of scenic hills and woodland.
Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Site of Special Scientific Interest, Colomendy offers young people exceptional access to the great outdoors, brimming with wildlife, adventure and learning opportunities. In addition to our regular adventure learning programmes, this site also offers these Environmental Field Study courses: Coastal Studies, River Studies, Sand Dune Studies, Urban Studies and Rural Studies.
Our outdoor activities are integrated into the stunning woodland and include three huge climbing and abseiling towers, high and low rope activities, a 3G swing, a 200-metre giant zipwire, and an exceptionally realistic caving system built into a natural rock seam.
The purpose-built water sports lake gives kids a chance to do kayaking and canoeing under the leadership of our highly trained instructors or test their teamwork in a raft building session.
The centre also features two football pitches and a spacious sports hall for team games, fencing and recreational activities.
Colomendy's student accommodation options include from dormitories (4-12 beds) or Adventure Lodges. Party leader bedrooms are complete with furnishings and tea and coffee making facilities. It also features a large party leader lounge with hot drink making facilities and comfy sofas to warm up after a chilly day in the woods.
Whether you would like to create your own activity programme, or let the experts do it for you, our outdoor adventures are designed to ensure that you achieve your desired learning outcomes, whilst offering each child an opportunity to increase their resilience, grow their confidence and develop their character.
We work hard to provide quality education courses with affordable options. We offer a selection of trip durations, available all year round.
Our on-site shop sells snacks and drinks, souvenirs, games and mementos.

Teambuilding challenges can either be competitive or results oriented.
Used as either a full programme, or as individual progressive sessions, Bushcraft teaches young people the wide range of skills necessary to survive in a wilderness scenario.
Young people are encouraged to think about their perception of the natural world, as well as understand which elements can be utilised in conjunction with newly acquired skills; such as learning to construct a shelter, safely lighting a campfire using natural materials, and using campfire gadgets to cook a variety of meals outdoors.
At Colomendy, a river runs through part of the site with a purpose built lake ideal for kayaking, canoeing and raft building.
Our kayaking and canoeing trips are led by fully qualified British Canoe Union trained Instructors organise games and aqua activities.
Raft building is a great activity for learning the intricacies of teamwork, leadership, planning and problem solving, but more importantly how not to get wet! Pupils work together to design and build their raft out of barrels, logs and rope and take to the water to test out their craft. Naturally, safety is our top priority, so buoyancy aids and protective clothing are provided, and all activities are carried out in carefully controlled, safe environments.
These give students the opportunity to try something different and building water confidence and team-working skills, all under the watchful eye of our trained lifeguard. Less confident pupils are always given plenty of gentle encouragement, and where required all of our watersports activities are licenced by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA).

With our specialist environmental instructors, bring fieldwork to life! Whether that's encouraging your KS3 Geography students to choose Geography as a GCSE option or to help them discover a range of environments or explore human concepts in nearby urban or rural areas. At GCSE level, IT follow up sessions will allow your students to present their fieldwork results using GIS and Excel. This will enable them to analyse their findings and evaluate their investigation whilst it is still fresh in their minds.
For GCSE Biology, ecological fieldwork skills will really make sense to the students as they explore a variety of environments. You can also combine your trip with a visit to a local nature reserve to learn more about conservation efforts.
For A level Geography, students undertake fully independent investigations with trained instructors on hand to facilitate and advise in the research, methodology development and collection of their primary data. Our instructors can also give practical support when presenting this data using Excel and GIS. Programmes can be tailored to include a variety of human and physical topics, meeting the needs of the different exam board specifications and the questions of your students.
