The Wingate Centre School Trip

The site is nestled in the Cheshire countryside surrounded by three acres of stunning views.

is the perfect place for an action-packed holiday, with on-site activities available or a variety of exciting attractions nearby, or a place to chill out and relax.

The friendly staff can help you plan your perfect stay.

The grounds are safe and accessible and have a variety of play areas for all ages and abilities as well as quiet zones where individuals can enjoy the peaceful location.

The accommodation is bright and airy. Twin and triple rooms, communal lounges, adapted bathrooms and a fully catered dinning hall.

There is a multi-purpose recreation hall which is equipped with a large drop-down screen which can be used for film nights or Wii gaming sessions. A sound system, disco lights, a pool table, table tennis, table football, bean bags, giant games such as Jenga and Connect 4, a variety of books and a good selection of toys.

The hall can be used for craft and learning activities, with tables and chairs available for small or large groups. There are two large accessible toilets off the hall as well as a small self-contained kitchen.

The Centre boasts a large, wheelchair-accessible, sensory room including bubble tubes, sensory rain cloud and a mobile hoist.

There is a mobile sensory trolley available for mobile use.

Breakfast, a packed lunch and a two-course evening meal are provided each day of your stay.

For individuals with food intolerances, or medical problems, our kitchen staff can provide freshly-cooked food to cater for all needs and tastes.

Our accommodation is spread across two floors and consists mostly of twin-bedded rooms with pressure-relief mattresses. We also have profile beds, hoists and bed surrounds if needed.

All our toilet and washing facilities are fully-accessible.

Cleanliness is key to The Centre with housekeeping provided each day at no additional charge.

What activities are available during educational visits in 2026?

A 600m² gymnasium, equipped with 3 trampolines, competition-size soft-sprung floor, ball pool, balance & beams and more. A flat-bed trampoline, with hoist and sensory tent, for rebound therapy and fitness. The centre offer a variety of gym-based activities, group games, nature trails, craft sessions, plus Inclusive drama, movement and dance workshops

Which curriculum topics do we cater for?

We can offer a number of different drama workshops to groups visiting. These include: inclusive drama, performance drama, drama and movement, role play and curriculum-based workshops. If there is something specific that you have in mind, we can create a bespoke workshop just for you.

We can offer theatre workshops to suit each group visiting the Centre. These include: Inclusive Theatre, performance technique, drama and movement, musical theatre, role play and curriculum-based workshops. If there is something specific that you have in mind, we can create a bespoke workshop just for you.

Working with teachers or groups leaders, we will lead a one hour session that is appropriate for the visiting group. We have led workshops in papercraft, salt dough modelling, tie-dry, mask making, painting and textiles printing in the past.

If you are interested in nature, we lead a nature hunt on the grounds of the Wingate Centre, where groups will learn about our woodland and biodiversity, while having fun finding items hidden around the Centre. They will also have a chance to create, using salt dough.

If schools or groups would like to lead any forest school workshops while staying at the Centre, we have a fire pit included in your accommodation package. We are also surround by countryside and which supports bushcraft activities like den building, camp fire story telling, and wood carving.

Teambuilding activities can be included within our drama workshops or fun-fitness sessions. We can also create a bespoke team building session for your group, which can include activities outside and indoors.

The Wingate Centre is nestled in the Cheshire countryside surrounded by three acres of stunning views, and is the perfect place for an action-packed holiday, with on-site activities available or a variety of exciting attractions nearby. It is also a place just chill and relax while enjoying the serenity of the countryside..

Our accommodation is available to all groups and is open from February to December with a minimum booking of 8 people. We have two floors of accommodation, each with its own lounge and kitchenette. Both floors can be booked separately or as one accommodation block, depending on the size of group. Breakfast, a packed lunch, and a two-course evening meal are provided as part of our accommodation package. You also get access to our grounds, which include an accessible playground area and sensory garden. Inside the Centre access to our Rieber recreation hall and sensory room are included as well.

What size groups do we cater for?

We cater for all group sizes, from 8 to 49!

On-site classroom facilities?

A large dining room and a recreation hall can be used for learning, fun or craft activities. The extensive grounds can be used for learning and fun activities, which include a covered outdoor classroom area, if the weather is poor.

Is there first aid on site?

Yes. The majority of staff are First Aid trained and there is a defibrillator onsite.

Access for visitors with disabilities

All of the facilities are suitable for disabled visitors, The centre can cater for profoundly disabled individuals right through to those with no additional needs - everyone is welcome. All corridors are wheelchair-friendly and there are two lifts. The centre holds a variety of hoists, beds, toileting and washing facilities including a rise and fall bath, sluice rooms, a cosi-i-mat disability toilet and a tracking hoist. In addition to this it has a wheelchair roundabout, outdoor sensory trail and a fully equipped sensory room. The experienced gym coaches are trained to deliver rebound therapy and can provide tailored sessions to improve mobility, core strength, communication and independence skills.

Visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Yes. The Wingate Centre is one of the biggest holiday centres for individuals with SEND in the UK. The residential accommodation is arranged on two floors, each one can be self-contained with its own:
•bedrooms
•bathrooms
•lounge
•kitchenette
•bathing and toilet facilities.

Each group, however small, is given its own floor. Groups are not mixed together (for your security and care needs).
A vast array of disability equipment is available to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The Wingate Centre champions all things inclusive and we ensure that what every activity you book with us, will be accessible for all abilities. our facilities are designed to accommodate all abilities and we champion activities like Creative Play, Rebound Therapy an Inclusive Theatre to ensure a memorable and meaningful stay for all abilities.
