School Trips @ YHA
We are YHA.
We transform young lives forever through travel and real adventure.
Because where you go changes who you become.
To show how important travel and adventure is, we’ve taken it away from someone who depends on it… and given it to children who’ve been missing out."
Why book YHA for Residential School Trips and Educational Visits?
YHA Ambleside offers modern facilities, stylish social areas, a decked area overlooking Lake Windermere, and free Wi-Fi. Educational groups can benefit from a multi-functional room that can be used as a lounge (complete with comfy sofas) or as a classroom with extra facilities including a projector and flipchart. Plus, the hostel is right next door to Ambleside Pier and we have our own jetty and slipway too!
If you’re a Key stage 2 or above group looking for adventure, you’re in the right place. We can help to organise a range of outdoor activities and educational sessions that will suit the needs of your group perfectly. Bolt-on activities are available as half-day and full-day options, and are designed to entertain and engage pupils of all ages and abilities.
You’ll be spoilt for choice for things to do nearby, with watersports of all descriptions right on the doorstep. If you’re a walking group, the Langdale Pikes or Fairfield horseshoe are perfect for a day of rambling. Lake Windermere is literally on the doorstep, offering cruises and study tours on the water. And the bustling town center of Ambleside is just a short walk away, home to some great shops, restaurants and cinemas.
What activities are available during group visits?
Field Studies Bolt-on – Our Field Studies bolt-on sees us working with our friends at the Field Studies Council (FSC) to provide exam board specification fieldwork. All of the activities are run by highly trained and experienced FSC staff who offer bespoke sessions that are set to inspire a love of the subject for life. Activities include hydrology, impact of tourism, glaciation, river studies and adaptations.
Adventure Bolt-on – Working with our AALA licensed partners Carnegie Great Outdoors (CGO) we provide real, safe and thrilling experiences including ghyll scrambling, kayaking and climbing. All of our activities are in the real outdoors, so vary depending on the location. Once booked you’ll be contacted by our partners who will discuss any specific requirements you may have.
