A Christmas Story Workshop
The Drama Hut
The Drama Hut believes that schools should have ready access to drama in order to support learning and was created in order to provide an on-site service that teachers could access, to help bring the curriculum to life. Through drama, role play and improvisation, children are able to experience a subject, complementing and enhancing their learning in the classroom.
With a wide range of topics to choose from, let us create a unique learning experience for your school.
All our team are trained both in facilitation and performance. They have experience working with children of all ages and share a common passion through learning through drama. All facilitators are DBS checked and implement The Drama Hut CPP (Child Protection Policy).
Why are The Drama Hut a great choice for bringing fun workshops into your school?
Our 'Victorian Christmas' workshop will tie in very well with any year groups studying either the Victorians or Charles Dickens. After an initial introduction about the man himself, the facilitator will encourage discussion about the period before then using improvisation, role play and text to engage the children further. The session will finish with a short performance piece created and acted out by the children themselves.
What activities are available during group visits?
Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Mayans, Romans, Stone Age, Saxon and Viking, Victorians, WW1, WW2, Great Fire of London and Florence Nightingale. We can also provide bespoke workshops at schools requests.
What size groups do you cater for?
We can work with up to 30 children at any one time for a minimum of 60 minutes. We offer special day rates for multiple classes and can deliver two different topics to different year groups on the same day, helping to manage tight school budgets. All we require on the day is the school hall or similar to work in and a member of staff to observe the session/s.
Do you offer on-site classroom facilities?
Is there first aid on site?
Do you offer access for visitors with disabilities?
Yes - with support from teachers
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
“We have used The Drama Hut on several occasions to help enrich and inspire the children’s experience of the curriculum. All facilitators have been well prepared and able to use their dramatic skills to deliver well-pitched and interesting workshops. Children are always excited after the session and are able to speak confidently about what they have learnt.”
