School Workshops - The Drama Hut
All our team are professional actors, trained both in facilitation and performance. They have experience working with children of all ages and share a common passion through learning through drama. All facilitators are DBS checked and implement The Drama Hut CPP (Child Protection Policy).
With over two hundred schools visited last year, we are passionate about the impact that drama within schools, can have on children’s education.
Why book The Drama Hut's Mayan Workshops workshop for your school?
The Drama Hut offers on-site school workshops, encouraging learning in a creative environment. We can work with up to 30 children at any one time and all we require prior to our visit is a clear space to work in and a member of staff to observe or join in the experience.
Which Curriculum Subjects do you cater for?
Curriculum topics available: Mayan Civilisation.
Travel back in time with our professional actor who takes on the role of Sally Spade, our enthusiastic archaeologist to explore this fascinating period of history. Play our fast-paced 10 second picture game, depicting life and famous structures during this period. Re-create the story of “The Hero Twins” from the Popol Vuh. Explore Maya religion and the specific roles the Gods, Kings and Priests played during this period by playing ‘Guess the God’ and prepare with music and dance, a ritual ceremony of a willing victim for human sacrifice!
What size groups do you cater for?
We can work with up to 30 children at any one time for a minimum of 60 minutes. We offer special day rates for multiple classes and can deliver two different topics to different year groups on the same day, helping to manage tight school budgets. All we require on the day is the school hall or similar to work in and a member of staff to observe the session/s.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
“We have used The Drama Hut on several occasions to help enrich and inspire the children’s experience of the curriculum. All facilitators have been well prepared and able to use their dramatic skills to deliver well-pitched and interesting workshops. Children are always excited after the session and are able to speak confidently about what they have learnt.”
