Saxons Outreach Program
School Workshops - The Sustainability Centre South Downs
The Sustainability Centre education team have years of experience delivering to school groups.
As part of our wide programme of activities and topics, on and own site and at your school, we offer a high standard of workshops and a fun learning experience.
If you have restrictions to go on a school trip out to the Sustainability Centre, then we can come to you!
Our Saxons workshop is a great addition to learning about the Saxons with a chance to see replica artefacts, weapons and costumes with well planned hands on activities to suit your school timetable.
Why are The Sustainability Centre South Downs a great choice for bringing fun workshops into your school?
With our experienced tutors, we can provide a whole day or half a day of hands on activities.
Pupils will learn how to weave willow in a Saxon hurdle gate, decorate clay medallions, whilst learning about archaeology, card wool ready for weaving, and grind herbs to make natural medicines of the time.
With an excellent show and tell with our superb replica artefacts, weapons and costumes and a wealth of detailed knowledge all about Saxon life. This day guarantees to bring the subject alive!
What size groups do you cater for?
We can deliver this activity to a class of approx 30 pupils.
Is there first aid on site?
All of our tutors are fully first aid qualified.
Do you cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Yes we can offer this to SEN groups.
